Introduction

York Electronics has come up with an awesome product called a Servo Cycler. Plugging a power source and 3 to 4 servos into this device allows you to automatically center your servo before installation and cycle your servo for testing purposes. The cycling process can be done in a sweeping mode or stepping mode, in or out of your model.

Out of the Box:

When my test unit arrived the first thing I thought was, "That's it? This is all there is?" Let me tell you folks, this is all you need! The Servo Cycler is an extremely compact, easy to use product that allows you to test your servos in or out of your model.

What does it do?

Here comes my favorite part of any review, telling you what it does and how well it does it!

The Servo Cycler will help you efficiently install your servos, test your servos for any internal issues and test your surfaces after the install for possible problems with your setup. How much more can you ask of a product?

In the first of the above pics, the Servo Cycler will automatically center your servo, green light is on. You can also automatically center the servo at any time by pressing the CENTER button.

In the second pic, the Servo Cycler is in Offset Mode, allowing you to hold the UP or DOWN button and make the servo sweep in the desired direction. In addition to the sweeping you could just tap the buttons and the servo will step in the desired direction, red light is on.

The third pic shows the servo in the Sweep Mode, moving in both directions from end point to end point. This mode can be in any of 9 different speeds to check the strength of your servos systems, red and green lights are on.

If your servo is installed in your model, you may want to set end points that are less than the factory throws of the servo. This can be programmed by holding the UP or DOWN button and tapping the CENTER button when the desired position is reached. You may then hit both the UP and DOWN at the same time which will set the Servo Cycler to SWEEP mode, thereby testing your servo without allowing the control surfaces to go past their desired maximum throw.

The perfect installation tool

I would highly recommend using this product even if only to make sure your servos are centered upon installation. Doing this in advance will speed up your servo installation and the centering of your control surfaces, all without the transmitter.

Of course the fine tuning will need to be done once the receiver is installed, an easy task if the servos are pre-centered upon installation.

Conclusion

I'm extremely happy to have been asked to do this review. My only issue is that I wish I had it sooner, I just got done with a build where this product would have come in very handy.

In my opinion, there isn't a better product, that I'm aware of, that will test your servos and automatically center them for installation purposes at a better price.

In a real life test, a buddy of mine was having a throttle issue on his 40% Extra, something was causing the throttle to "blip" at times when he swears it wasn't him. We pulled the servo and put it on the Servo Cycler. Putting the Cycler in Sweep Mode found an issue with either the motor or the pot in the servo, it's now on it's way back to the manufacturer for a more indepth check up. Now that's what I call a valuable product!!
