Default Styrofoam in planes

I am wondering if the styrofoam used in some models e.g. Aeroworks Yak and QS Yak will deteriorate with time? I think the newer QS planes are doing away with it, but I still see it used in Aeroworks. Thx

I have seen Cardens that are 8 years old, and the foam is still in tact.

In fact.. isn't that why Hippies hate styrofoam.. because it dosen't degenerate?

My buddy had a gasoline leak inside his Carden Extra.....I've never seen foam disintegrate so fast! We did an excellent job replacing it though, and then it was stolen a week later

The airplane will probably bite the farm before any foam has expired

I had made a foam tray for my taps in my tool box when I was 21 , and it is still intact , discolored a bit, and I'm 60.........

Foam is nice for turtledecks and hatches, and QQ might actually still use foam for the turtledecks on his planes - time will tell. However, it is about the dumbest idea in the world to use it in the belly of a fuse, as a single little boo boo of a fuel leak will disintegrate the foam immediately! And when that happens, the structural integrity of the fuse is weakened. It is also not the best solution for the sides of the fuse, either, but is less likely to get eaten alive by fuel.
