Here ya go scoubidue......

1) Distance from firewall to the radio receiver installed on the plywood floor of the plane. Note: For the firewall i meant The firewall is where the engine box is mounted and attached to and where the fuse end.......it is 24 5/8

2) end of canister box (where we could see 2 big canister holes) to the receiver:........15 1/4

So that would make it about 36 inches from the center of the rear cylinder's exhaust port to the receiver tray, +- an inch or so...If it's + an inch, then the EScomposite pipes might just fit perfectly!

Bodywerks, I am not sure about the measurement you mentioned of 36 inches from the reciever tray to the exhaust port. From the firewall to the reciever tray it is 24 5/8

I just went out in the garage with Brendan and took a look, from the 'best' that I could measure without taking the spinner, prop and cowl off, it LOOKS to be between/around 10 1/2 to 10 3/4 inches from the center of the rear exhaust port to the firewall.....so add that to the 24 5/8's that is in the ballpark of 35 1/8th to 35 5/8's

Thats the best I could do without taking it all apart...we are packing up the trailer tomorrow before Bren has to go to his moms for a few days before we head to Horizon the middle of the week to meet with Mike.

Unofficial word from Mike is that they are on the water and can be shipping in as early as a week or as late as a couple weeks. If they get here any time in August, I'll be happy...

A 27x10 will pull the plane a lot harder than the 28x10 at any altitude.

25-30 pounds is very much in the range of a DA-100 for any type of flying anywhere in the country.

Wayne are you saying that 25-30 pound plane would not be in the 100 range in a different country?

That's funny But I think he meant ''anywhere in the country'' referring to all different types of elevations.

On standard mufflers the 160 would be equal, if not less weight than a DA 100 or comparable on cans with significantly more power. I fail to see any disadvantage in that! 28-29lb’s, in my opinion, is too much weight for a 100cc of any brand. Sure, a 100 will do everything if you’re at/near sea level, but it will be sluggish. Bring that 28+lb’s to 5500’ where I’m currently flying and it won’t even hover in the summer.
If I didn't already have a 3W106, I might would consider this crazy idea. I'm trying to talk a friend of mine into doing this on his, I doubt that I will have any luck. Would probably have to use a three blade prop and standard mufflers? The motor may not fit the width of the cowl, but it should make it in length. Specs show one of the ZDZ 160s at 6.5 lbs, only half poind more than the 100s. May be lighter than a DA100 with cans? Not sure I would ever do it, but it is interesting to think about.

The ZDZ is about the same weight as the Evolution 116 they recommend. I'll be doing it for sure if I end up moving out here permanently. As for dimensions, it's 27mm wider than a DA 100 so it depends on how tight the cowl is. It won't hurt my feelings of the cowl needs a little trimming to make it fit.. My plan is to use standard mufflers and a 30x10 prop. I think it'd be a perfect combo. I have a 18lb CA Models 31% Extra with a ZDZ 80 that is ballistic out of a hover even at 5500'. In the summer heat, the density altitude is like flying at 9000'.. I miss FL and sea level!

As for a DA100 being enough for any 25-30lb airframe anywhere in the country.. Not if you want unlimited performance. In the summer heat, a DA100 ripping a 27x10 Menz was not enough to pull a 35% AW 260 out of a hover here. My Carden Edge won't pull out of a hover in the heat, either. High altitude makes you have to think outside of the box in order to get the performance that you want. That's why I say F the stubborn brand loyalty and use what offers the best performance for your setup.

God I am glad you are experiencing what I experienced! A bitchen-running 100 on standard muffs, turning a Mezjlik 28X10 at 6400+, can hover a 27 pound plane and get you out of trouble up there, up to 90°F. But it is by NO MEANS impressive. My BME 110 would only turn a 27X10 at about 6200, and wouldn't even pull my 25.5 pound plane out of a hover on a hot summer day up there. I miss it about as much as I miss the snow, LOL!
