Jim shorten up the fill tube. That length will beat the snot out of the fuse and tank.

Well I am finally done messing around with everything up front around the engine & fuel system so it's time to glue in the cowl strakes !
Once again, I used Elmers yellow wood glue to hold the strakes on. I wrapped 3 bungee cords around the fuselage to hold them till the glue set up. Now all I need is a 5 cell AA battery pack for the ignition and a prop bolt adapter for the spinner. ![]() Maiden will be this Saturday morning at my club field in Sanford Florida. ![]() http://www.sanfordaeromodelers.com |

But I'm back now. I'll get busy on mine today.... I'm 67 miles from S.A.M. Maybe I'll go watch you tame that beast.

![]() Hope all is well with daughter & child. It would be cool if you made it out to SAM ! Heck, I'm 50 miles from there.... where do you fly ? Maybe I'll come visit your field one day as well. Machined my own spinner adapter bolt and got the spinner mounted and changed out the tires to a little larger / heavier and the balance is right on the money ! One final checklist to go over and I'm all ready to maiden this bird !!!

I maidened The Talon today with the Thor 45 swinging a 20x8 prop and it didn't seem to have the power I was expecting. Gonna do some more carb adjusting and maybe an 18x8 prop to see if she will spool up a little more, only tached at 6100 - 6200.
Plane flew very nice, almost as easy as a trainer, just needed more oomph ! Jim Here is a short video of the maiden.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRRWAt3QgOI |
