Guys,
We're putting together one of the Fliton AJ extras and I had a question for you guys. The plane needs two 11.1v 1,800 mah batteries in parallel, right? (using a Hacker 30XL) How do you go about making the connection? Is there a Y that already comes with Dean plugs or something? How are you guys making your parallel connections? Thanks! Vic

Go 4S instead. It's so much better at that for wild 3D.

Hey Wilson, como esta mi amigo?
I, like Bonedoc, use 4s on my AJ. I'm using the Fliton 4s 2150's. It has great power but the run time is only about 5 min. |

I think that two 1800s will be too heavy for this plane. If you are going to fly 3 cell batteries you will be better of with a 3S 2800 or something like that. Which of the Hacker 30XL motors do you have? I have the A30-10XL and run on a 4s 2200mAh pack and get about 6.5 minutes. I got the batteries (hextronic) from United Hobbies for $38 and they have performed great so far. The plane ends up weighing under 50oz AUW.

Here's the latest video on 4S. I don't think I've really hit WOT in this video. But it's nice to know that I can get out of any trouble (as long as my nose isn't pointing down ).

Unless you already have those batteries, it would be best to run a single big pack. I preferred around 3,000mah. I ran a Hyperion 3200 and a GP Electrifly 3200. I also had a Flightpower 2500, but it would go into LV cutoff after around 6 minutes.
Depending on the motor you have, 4S is probably better. On the A30-10XL, you're better off with a 3 cell and 14" prop. If you go to 4S with that motor, you need to go down to a 12" prop just to keep the amps down, unless you have a lot of battery, in which case the weight of the plane goes up significantly. Anyway, IMO, a 12" prop is too small for 3D stuff. The A30-14L on 4S 2250's or something like that would be ideal, as it'll give you 600 watts on a 13X6, I believe... Now, as for a parallel plug if you already have those batteries, Great Planes makes a parallel adapter that uses no wires - much cleaner and more efficient: http://www.electrifly.com/powersyste...onnectors.html It's item GPMM3142. |

I use 13 x 6.5 with 4S 2200, and I have no problem at all. Pushing 100+ flights thus far.

Hey Josh, after watching your latest video, don't you mean 100 1/2 flights?

lol, I'll take an Eagletree reading one of these days. What matters is that the battery, esc, and motor are holding right?

I've been running a CC45 amp with a park 6v BEC and haven't had any problems.

I think I'll go better with 2 packs of 11.1v 1800mA ( + - 270g) since a single 11.1v 3700mA pack weights around 287g, and for a single 14.8v 2500mA is aprox. 255g. Another point is that is more economic buying 2 1800mA comparing it with one 3300mA. DualSky is a brand that I always recomend, they are high quality packs with one of the highest discharge rates on the market.
How about a 11.1v 1800mA pack wich is rated to perform at 28.8Amps Continious! and 54A max! for only $48.95 each pack! or they also have a new generation of pack with higher discharge rates. They have a 14.8v 2200mA rated at 55A continious and 110A max burst ( but that to much ), and the price is great! $94.
