Default Ikarus Super Star

Hi people...

I just want to share the awesome experience I had building this airplane. I never had such an easy foam model to set-up. I loved it... 3 hours and this baby was totally dry and ready for electronics. This baby weights 6.63 oz (188gr)

I made some changes by Sergio Costa advise and this model looks tuff and great. I equipped it with:

7.4v 450mAh 25C
AXI 2204/54 EVP
APC 9x3.8
2x 4.5gr servos (rudder and elevator)
1 9gr Hextronic servo (ailerons)

To fly this model I have my Futaba 9CAPS with exponential ready to go... and early tomorrow morning I'm in the park

I'm attaching some pics now and later, when at home I'll attach one with the whole set-up.

Let me know what you think...

Thanks for looking

Oooo man, I picked one up at the Nall from a vendor for $20.00 thinking maybe it wouldn't be a waste. Ooo was I suprised what a great little plane it is. I have never had a foamie that light and never ventured into small 2 Cell before. Now its all I am flying and looking to buy. I fly mine outdoors and left the gear off and ended up 6.0 ready to go. Its got a little tail twist but it is a blast to fly on a calm day. Its even more able to handle wind than some of my bigger heavier Foamies.

A guy that comes out to my field has one of these and redid his ailerons. He cut out the tip of the wings and attached to the aileron for maximum performance. It is also WAY over powered. You can go straight down and pull full up about 2 foot off the ground and make it out of it. It is crazy.

If I understand correctly, your friend increased aileron area, right? But where did your friend attached the tip? I see the tip of the wings to be too small to make a significant aileron difference. If he has his model overpowered then he can almost do whatever he wants with this model.

Do you know if he reinforced the fuselage in some way?

Let me know. Thanks

It sounds like he added counterbalances to the ailerons.

Nice plane, btw, you're going to have some fun with that one!!

A mate had the super-star, flew great. Had the edge 540, Pitts and the Yak. Pitts is aweful but the Yak is the best flyer by far, rolling elevators and harriers are sooo nice!!!!

Counterbalances that is what I was looking for lol. To me it look like he just cut part of the wing and CA it to the ailerons. I dont think he reinforced the body at all. It fluttered at high speed but never comes apart lol. Ill try to video it one day.

Hi...

I need an opinion.. I can do 5 minutes of total 3D with the throttle up with my Dualsky 7.4v 450mAh 25C but I was hopping for a little bit more. Do you advise any other battery?

Tell me where I can find some good batteries at a decent price.

I'll try to ask someone to shoot a video clip and send it this weekend.

Have fun flying

almmendes, what motor are you using? I'm using Dualsky 2S 300mAh packs on my indoor planes, but these have very small motors. Also, which type of Dualsky batteries are you using? I.E. the 25/50C GT packs, or an older version with 25C burst?

I'm using a AXI2208/54 EVP and the battery is the 7.4v 450mAh dualsky GT series 25C/50C burst. I'm flying it outdoors... I can't find anywhere to fly it indoors here in Marlborough, Massachussetts

A little more capacity should do the trick. Take a look here:

http://2dogrc.com/ecommerce/os/catal...ry-p-1967.html

The discharge C-rating is a bit lower, but because it's higher capacity you can actually pull more amps. And that price will be hard to beat!
