I think i have decided to get the ZDZ 210 for my SD 40% yak. How loud is the 210 on stock mufflers and a 2 blade prop? Any power loss with the stock mufflers compared to canisters? Also wondering whats the starting procidure on the engine. Especially, first flight of the day. How many turns on the prop to get fuel to the carb?
Thanks Smokey |

I have not taken a db reading on mine but it does not seem loud. It is deaper than the other motors. To start them it really depends on if they sit for a period. If they are run on a regular basis then it is usually about 6-8 flips total to start. I start mine by ignition on, choke on flip till it pops. Ignition on choke off and flip to runs.

Chris,
On the first flight of the day. How many prop rotations to get the fuel from the tank to the carb. On your starting procedure, what is the position of the throttle stick in relation to your sequence? Did that make sense? ![]() Smokey |

If the plane has not been flown for a week or more it could take 12-18 flips. My throttle is at high idle during this starting procedure.

Is this engine as easy to start like a DA? I do have a Miller gear reduction starter if it wont budge. I hate to use it thou. What prop are you using and on what plane?

I have several. 2 on H9 Ultimates and 1 on a Aerotech yak. No need for a big starter. These motors are just as easy to start as any other brand.

Is there any benefit of using cannisters besides sound on this plane? Looking for the "Kick Ass" setup..

If you don't have noise issues at your field then go with stock mufflers. Light and easy to set up. THe power picked up by cans is usually just enough to offset their weight. But if you travel with the plane check the fields before you go for noise restrictions. I just run cans on all my stuff built in the last two years and here on out.

I have the JMB cans and like them alot. They are not as crucial to header length as some of the others on the market. I thought about the tuned pipes from RCS but decided I did not wan to run the pipes that far back in fuse. On the SD Yak should not be as much of an issue since the belly is not foam.

I was at the Nall this year and heard a 210 on a yak 55. I thought it was abit obnoxious. A friend of mine has one in Connecticut and also finds it to be toooo loud.
JMB would be the way to go. I have them on a ZDZ160 and love 'em. Lou |

I was thinking of the T-70 or T-80 tuned silencer. Has anyone had any experience with it?
