Default XFC 2008 Announcement

Sunday, after the winners ceremony, The XFC committee made some announcements about the 2008 XFC and the changes that are planned.

First, the field will be limited to 18 competitors in each discipline. 15 by invitation, and 3 by a qualifier just before contest (probably on Thursday before). Also they will be filling any spots left by invited pilots that withdraw from the competition.

Second, there will be a "Night Flying Competition"

Third there will be a "Team competition" The team will be at least two aircraft flying together. The way it was described a team can have two helicopters, 5 helicopters, three airplanes, a helicopter and an airplane, basically any way you want to put it together.

Watch the XFC website for details.

Great ideas. I have heard from numerous persons that they missed the qualifying into the Masters that used to exist- great spot for an undiscovered talent to get in. The other ideas are really good one's too- I like the innovation.

Yes there was. You weren`t there for some reason.
We actually had five heli guys try out and we took three into the competition. No airplane guys came forward....Too bad, we paid out a LOT of money.

I thought I read somewhere that mandatory maneuvers were going to be eliminated next year. Is this correct? Seems like having a competition based on freestyle flying only would be pretty tough to judge considering each individual has their own idea of what type of flying looks best.

I was disappointed with the my "airplane brothers and sisters" this year. The heli crew fielded 21 pilots, 3 came from a field of 5 "last chance qualifers". The airplane gang fielded only 18 pilots and ZERO pilots showed up for the qualifer. What'sa matta with all you self proclaimed hucksters out there, scared?

This year's XFC was bad ass from the word go; new digs, great pilots, spectacular noon show, super crowd... it was a hoot!!! Next year promises to be off the chain...

I wanted to go bad... but work comes first. But next year, the vacation schedule will include this weekend.

I was bummed all weekend , but glad the event went well for everyone and the XFC Crew.

Congrats to all the winners as well as to the other particapants.

See you next year.

On the XFC website: http://futabarc.com:80/xfc-rc/index.html they show next years XFC dates as June 18 - 20th 2008? My 2008 calander shows those dates landing on Wed-Thur- Fri. Can that be right? Did they mean July 2008? Am I screwing the dates up or what. Any know what the dates are for real?

June 18-20, 2008 is Fri-Sun. You are looking at 2007.
