Hi Guys, Just my opinion on the exhausts - I have now flown the 2.12 with both a slimline pitts and my own aircraft with the MTW can. I have to say both aircraft have more than enough power and if there is any difference at all in power I couldnt tell! The can is definately a bit quiter although this was only really noticable at high power settings (which you dont need all the time). The only other variation I have been able to fly was a da50 on a K&S tuned pipe the aircraft was a 2.3m comp arf and although a heavier and bigger aircraft still performed really well. So my conclusion from all this is that the 2.12 will have plenty of power on either a can or a pitts muffler the only difference is noise at high power settings. If you want or need insane power then try a tune pipe although the mid range will suffer a little.
Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck to all those with maidens coming up |

madian done, awesome, just a few adjustments at the field. Moved both batteries in front of tank and added right thrust. Still needs up thrust so I will change it and go back out monday. Feels good seeing it in the air and not on the garage floor.

Congrats, KD!
Sounds like it went well. I'm almost done with mine but the maiden will have to wait a couple of months due to weather.Edited to ask: did the recommended low rates work well for the first flight(s)? |

Troc,
I used more rudder, less evel and less ail then the recommended low rates and it was very good, used 35% expo on everything. This was just a starting point. |

Congrat's on the maidens guys.
As Promised.....Here's mine almost ready to take to the air. Just need to do a final balance, looks like it will be under 7Kg Big thanks to Chris again for the Vinyl work ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm too embarrassed to attach the concept images I gave him to work from. Only wish I could take a better photo so you could all see his handy work like I can in real life. |

What CG is everyone flying with? I've found that the factory forward setting is still a little tail heavy for IMAC style flying. I'd be interested to know how far forward people have gone with the CG?

I have moved my batteries to directly behind the firewall. It goes 1100mh a123, then next to it heading to the back of the plane is a 2300mh a123, then the da ign, then then the tank. I had the batteries right behind the wing tube first which gave me the factory cg, which was to tail heavy. I also have had to make a few small adjustments to the thrust which is more my fault since we guessed when we made the spacers. I also weighed the plane today at the field and with a full 16oz tank it came in at 15.55 pounds. So it is in the low 14 range empty. The DA50 with the jtec and vess prop pulls vertical unlimited. Now to do the graphics and order the custome standoffs.
Was wondering how much mix people are running rudder to evelator for knife edge? Ken |

I haven't really tried to mix knife edge yet as I needed so much up elevator to hold the line that it seemed rediculous to try and mix it out. Hopefully I will have better luck now that I have moved the CG forward. Having read some of the manuals for the larger comp arf Extras they suggest as little as 4%-5% up elevator and 1%-2% of opposite aileron for perfect knife edge.

Ken, glad to here the maiden went well - I also found the factory c of g to be to aggressive and settled about a half inch forward of that which made a HUGE difference to the general flyability. With the c of g in that position only a small amount of up elevator was required in a knife edge.
Cheers Scotty |
