Hey Izzy,
Did you make a decision yet? I have 10 flights on my Gen III and it's the best all around flying 100cc plane I've owned. I would go with it if I were you, they are in stock, get it before they run out. I should have a video within the next couple days. Lee |

Hey Lee, I've narrowed it down: either the QQ yak GenIII or a CompARF extra260. can you run a single servo on the Ailerons? I'd like to keep it as light as possible. I'm thinking of putting a BME 115 in the cowl if they have resolved the tuning issues that the first versions had. I know with a light setup it will be sick power and a freestyle machine. not that it's not one already
There are a couple of peeps at the field with Gen I and GenII Yaks and they are some of the nices planes i've seen fly

the QQ ailerons will twist with only one servo. The comp arf would probably handle it.I hear of people running 2 lighter less torq servos to keep the spread across the the whole aileron, and still keeping weight to a nill.Having one servo in the inbourd or outbourd will cause stress and twist...you probably already no that!i found the jr 8411 digis are about the lightest wieght to torq avial.

Im running a single 8711 on each aileron on the Comp-Arf 2.6 yak. There is plenty of holding power...Also...My vote goes for the Comp-Arf Yak. There is not a better flying plane...and while it is more difficult to repair...its hard to damage. This thing lands extremely slow....and the broom stick landing gear is more than capable of taking a tough landing.
Other advantages include...no IRON....yes...I dont have to iron out the wrinkles that will form in monokote/ultracote covered plane...which also makes for easier clean up at the field. my setup Comp-Arf 2.6 Yak in custom painted scheme (spektra FX) DA-100 stock mufflers 8611as everywhere except ailerons 8711s on ailerons Smart Fly power expander Turbo regulator Wolverine and fromeco switches SWB adjustable servo tray Spektrum on JR 10x ON ORDER Composite-Arf 3.0 Yak (JR Scheme) custom order |

Hey, I just bought a 2.6 compy yak. It had 8611a's all the way, with two on the rudder, and two on each aileron. I had my first flight on it Saturday morning, then flew and IMAC competition with 1 flight, placed in the top half. Plane is awesome for IMAC, straight, no plane induced rudder corrections are needed, and the uplines wiht a DA 100 were perfect. Started hucking it Saturday night. It torque rolls easily, great harrier rolls, but found that it did quite a bit of wing rocking in an uplright harrier. Very happy with it thus far.

I sold the Cardenstein. I was having it recovered, and it had some major underlying issues. So we parted ways. I am going to move to Sportsmans, so I wanted something that can take a little abuse.

QQ all the way! Comp ARF is a good plane until you have a problem depending on what rep you are using. Point is QQ is right here in the US and that just makes me feel better.

I have a 1st gen. QQ yak, it is fairly "chincy", sloppy constructed but it does fly very well . I just got a composite arf. It will be very difficult for me to go back to wood, they are sweet!

The new Gen III Yak is awesome, you can't compare it to the original. The construction is very good, covering is great, and flight performance awesome. I have over 60 flights on my Gen III already and it still looks brand new. For the price you can't beat it, plus repairs are very easy compared to composite planes. I love composite planes but just can't afford to pay sometimes up to two times what a built up plane would cost depending on what type of plane you're looking at. I feel that customer service is a big decision maker for me when buying a plane and QQ Aircraft is always right there when you need them.

mxcop,
I've been looking at a GIII as a possibility for my next 3D plane. I love the way the older ones flew but I was never quite confident with the quality. I tried to download the GIII manual but there isn't one on QQ's website. What did you find different. I'm thinking on using the new DA-85 to keep things really light, hopefully 23# or less. What is in your and how much does it weigh? |

Hey,
There is no GIII manual because everything is basically the same as far as construction goes. I had mine together in two evenings, the most time consuming thing was going over the covering as you should with any arf to make sure things were sealed perfect. Everything else went very fast and smooth with no problems at all. I have over 60 flights on mine now and it still looks like it just came out of the box. I'm using a Power Box Champion 4024 with two Power Box batteries along with Da 100 and MTW canisters. It came in at 27 lbs. and flies great at that weight. I think if you keep the weight down this plane could be awesome with the new 85. If you want some more info PM me. Here is a link to some pictures of my plane.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6116718/tm.htm Lee |

I have been emailing Reza about this plane. Unfortunately, he thinks the DA-85 will not work because it will not be possible to get the proper CG. If I add weight to the nose, I may as well have gone with a 100CC to begin with. Hopefully I will see Reza in Vegas this weekend and we'll talk some more.
