I will pay a little extra, if it means keeping the plane from falling apart in the air , there is no good investment in that....

The canopy is fine on the Gen III, I have over 60 flights and have been pushing the plane hard without any problems. The new canopy is very strong and doesn't vibrate bad, the foam pad on the back really helps.

For an 85cc motor, just go with the 101" Yak. Same plane as the 102 with a longer nose for the motor to balance.

Doesn't that longer nose cut down on the nimbleness of the plane for 3D?(LESS YAW SENSITIVITY)in high alpha stuff.

Flies 3D just as well as any other plane. Nose was extended 2", so not very much difference at all. That much difference doesnt hurt its 3D capabililties whatsoever.

If the budget has no room for the great expensive planes and engines, a low cost option is the 35% Magic Hand 103" Yak from TBM powered by a DL-100, I have less than the cost of a DA-100 with stock mufflers in the plane and engine combo. I will be flying it next season in IMAC. The combo hovers at 1/2 throttle and less. Unless you a top pilot in IMAC or 3-D the MH Yak will work well for most of us, a low cost alternative combo. With over 60 flights on my new combo I am impressed with it's slow smooth flight ability. The DL-100 starts right up turning a Xoar laminated 28x10 at 6300 with a solid idle at 1350, it is probably the best running gas engine I have had and I have had them all(DA, 3-W, Zenoah etc.). The only thing I have found I would change in the future would be the aluminum gear. I would like to add 2-3" to the height of the gear so I could attempt 2 wheel landings(main gear only). The Yak flys a very slow approach with a tail low attitude, in order to 2 wheel the speed needs to be increased but the roll out on the ground becomes the problem if you have a short runway. A 26-27# airplane does roll with any extra airspeed assuming no wind conditions. I like to show boat with main wheels only landings.

I voted for the QQ 102" yak. The one I had was a gen 4,with mtw canisters and an old style da100 it weighed 27pound 7oz and flew awesome in frestyle and in IMAC. If and when i get another of these ill go with stock mufflers and get the weight down to ~26.5.

QQ Yak fly's the best and is easy to look very good in IMAC. Comp-arf planes fly good but just last forever and set up at the field is so easy and fast. I love the Comp-arf planes and will be flying a big CA 3.3 Yak this season because thats what I have, but if I was to get a new plane it would be a QQ Yak 102 with a DA 100. Just flat out flyies the best IMO.
