Was just wondering, does anyone buy 50cc planes anymore or am I stuck with it? I put my new AW QB 50cc Yak up for sale and haven't had a bite, the plane is new not even put together and have a new DA-50 that has never seen fuel, was wanting to go into 100cc planes.

someone who is planning on getting into gas, or WANTS to go smaller in size, might take a crack at it.

In my experience you will not get many lookers until you are practically giving it away, then everybody and their brother wants it.

I still fly 50cc even though I have up to 40% planes. Its sometimes much easier (ALOT of the time) easier to bring the 50cc plane to the field for fun flying. Easier than glow in that I dont need a starter or glow ignitor.
Why not just fly the 28% plane? It wont hurt anyone. True the 33% will fly better but then again so will the 40%...see where I am goign with this. Fly what you got and save up in the meantime. Unless you just want to dump the thing so badly. In that case I might need another DA 50...lol. |

Thats a nice combo, the Aeroworks Yak, and the DA. A friend of mine has the same set up, and it flys very nice. I have had the opportunity to fly his many times. Among other things, I love doing one wheel touch & Go's with it.

I for one LOVE my 28% WH Extra and my smaller 25% CAP-X. They fit in the car, not to bulky to get put together, fit in my storage space and I have fun with them. Dont get into the "I must have the biggest and baddest" mentality. Fly what you have and the snot out of it. I fly what makes me and my wallet happy and thats the bottom line. If you cant find someone to buy the 50cc stuff then its other peoples loss. Fly it till you wreck it or sell it, meanwhile saving for the bigger bird.
I know waaaaaay too many people who talk the talk but cant land their 40 sized sport planes without 9 bounces, do YOUR thing and enjoy dont take this for anything more than $0.000002

People that are willing to pay the price of a new item will be looking at the manufacturer's or dealer's sites. That way they can be relatively assured of acceptable customer service and recourse for concerns. Those that are trying to privately sell an item for full price (new or slightly used) are typically in for a rude awakening. You are not a vendor and cannot deliver the same value as the original supplier. You cannot expect the same price. If you paid the price for new and have now changed you mind, there will be some financial pain involved. You could get lucky but it is rare.

Jim you nailed it.
Guys need to realize that with used planes (even un flown used planes) instantly you ned to deduct aroun 25% - 40% off the retail price. I never have problems selling one of my planes. When I decide to sell a plane I realistically price it and its gone. A DA-50 can be had for $500 all day long (with muffler) on the used market. And a 50cc Airframe $300 - 350. So a plane like that should be priced around $800 - $850 if you want to sell it. If you have it RTF, I'd add around 55-60% of the servo cost.. and you will get a reasonable market value. I have found that selling RTF 50cc planes for around $950 people will actually buy them. Anything more than that.. and people will buy new. Realitly sucks sometimes.. but you have to think of when you buy a plane, you not going to give a guy 95% of retail... you will find the 60% of retail plane and snag that one...

You can probably get $1500 for it with everything but the receiver and batteries included in the deal if its RTF. You probably have what,, a little over $2000 in it?

I've noticed all of the rtf planes, not just the 25%er's stick around for a while if the price isn't rock bottom. But, on the other hand, people who are willing to part out planes usually do much better. It takes a while longer with a little more effort, but if you list items separately at a reasonable cost, and they're good items, you'll get the same or more than selling the plane complete. Just a thought.
