The next stop was the airshow at Andrews AFB in Maryland. Boy, the security was tight there! As it should be, Airforce One is stationed there. This was an indoor display/show for us, we were in a hangar that was almost as big as the indoor site for Efest.

Of course, we did have a little fun while we were there.

The simulator trailer was very busy, again. It was one of the hits, especially since the weather was bad for part of the weekend.

While we were there, some of the guys on base decided to practice their skills - on our planes!!

Of the shows I have been to this year, this one by far had the largest number of planes on display. Unfortunately, we did not have much time to wander around and take pictures. I walked out to snap a few, and this one gives you an idea how many planes were there.

Next stop was Pax River, Maryland.

We had a request to fly an indoor show on Friday for a local school. Well, when the word spread that we would do it, a couple more schools bussed some kids in for the show. I think we had close to 400 kids attend. Not all the team was there, but we had enough for an abbreviated show and everyone thought it was great.

Then it was off to the base to get the outdoor display setup. Right off the bat, I saw a familiar face from the club.

Actually, this was Tim Weber's support vehicle, setup on the flightline right in front of us. I would get tired of looking at it before the weekend was over.

The highlight of the weekend, for me, was the visit to the VIP banquet on Friday night. All of the performers were there and it was an opportunity for us to rub elbows with some of them. There was also the twilight performances by Patty Wagstaff, the Aerostars, "Otto" the helicopter, and the Golden Knights. The officers club was next to the water, and the aerobatics were flown right past the waters edge. Awesome! Here are some shots of the Aerostars

Then it was showtime for us. They had us on a cut-grass area that was pretty rough, and a direct crosswind, but we managed to fly. See the flags on top of the simulator trailer in the background! Standing straight out!

Oh sure..you LOVED the lawn darts..to be sure one of them was not YOURS!!! And the OTHER guy(Josh) involved in the mid air was laughing so hard that he had hit someone that he forgot to shut down his motor before the impending soil compaction test!! The beauty and the symmetry of the "planned" lawn dart halftime show was something to behold!! It was pretty sick that someone thought it would be fun to try to hit the two now seperated wings with their own T-28's as the wings came floating down from the initial impact altitude.

No problem, some 5 minute epoxy willhave MY plane back n the air..Josh may not be so lucky.

Had a blast at the fly in. Thanks to all for a great time.

Yesterday, the Traveling Circus hit the road again. This week we pointed the convoy east toward LaGrange NC to attend the ECRC fly in. What a great place to fly. This was a fly anything event and most importantly, was directed at rasing money for the "Relay for Life" foundation. We felt pretty honored when the CD of the event said they were following RDRC's lead in using their event as a charity drive to help others. They had 53 registered pilots, and a lot of spectators there to enjoy the actvities. And of course, there was the T-29 Gaggle! What a blast. But the coolest thing about the gaggle was the little twist ECRC organizers added. They launched balloons right after the mass take off. The object of the event was to see who could pop one them before they flew away. Well,,,,nobody popped a balloon, but it sure wa s agreat way to keep all of the planes in the same tight area!!!!!! It didnt take long at all before the sound of spinning props eating white faom fill the air! We were all laughinf so hard, it was difficult to fly your own plane. I took Thurman's plane out right after take off, and seconds later, Josh Bunn and John Knoy were de-wing'n each other!
The whole day was a big blast and ECRC raised $1,044.00 for the Relay for Life foundation. I'd say this event was a HUGE SUCCESS in every way. Our hats are off the whole ECRC gang for putting on a great event. See you guys at the next one.
