I'll probably be there tomorrow, it may be too windy for that little toy though.

That too! It is compatible with all AXi 53xx series and EFlite Power 110 & 160. We are producing them now for retail. It was originally going to be a one off, but after thinking back on how many times I had to home brew a mount for a AXi 53xx, I thought "Man! People could use this!". The larger AXi's don't come with mounts, so your stuck. This one has excellent cooling passages for allowing the windings to breathe good.

After much work, hardware replacement, nail biting, head scratching, late night and early morning trips to the site, etc. , the field cams are back up and running. Hopefully they'll run through the night, and we'll get video tomorrow (friday) for more testing and adjustments.

The 5th camera we added was the "straw that broke the camel's back", and blew out the 5vdc supply in the computer due to USB load. Dave Langridge came to the rescue with a powered USB hub to handle the load, and swapped out some hardware that got the hot-rod computer back up and running.

The south-looking "Pits Cam" is b&w, and is a test of the idea of cramming composite video into the streams that are currently dominated by CMOS USB cams at the field. We'll eventually get it replaced with a color cam as we move along with our experiments.

There are good cams available that could give us much better video, but we have to crawl before we can walk, and we still have a lot to learn about remote video feeds. Besides, the price of these "free" cams is hard to beat!

We're trying to get most of the bugs worked out before FFT, to provide decent live coverage of the event to those who can't make it out, but are interested. I'm glad we didn't wait until the last minutes before FFT to install and debug, as this has turned out to be much more difficult than we ever imagined .

Dave

the pan and tilt cam and the extra usb board was here when I got home

I need a piece made for the pan and tilt though...shouldn't be too hard to knock up on a lathe or similar....to mount the cam to the pan and tilt.

I'll bring it up Saturday and a surprise package I want your comments on as well
