A big shout-out to the folks at CCRCC... Again this year, while on vacation, the folks at the Crystal Coast field (home of the Summer Sizzler) allowed Bryan & I to spend time at their field as if we were members. The weather was perfect, the flying was great, and we enjoyed the hospitality of several of their club members. It's awesome to get to come to the beach _and_ go flying during the same vacation. Thanks to CCRCC!

Hmmmm, I wonder if there is a good campground close by. Can take the camper down there with a few toys to boot.

Just got back from the Bealeton fly-in. WOW! What a great facility, and a great event. Matt and I went for just Saturday. Drake Edwards was also there, as well at Josh and Wes who stayed over for Sunday. On Sunday, they stop flying at 1:00pm so they can put on a full-scale airshow. I think next year we will try to camp out and stay for both days.

This was an IMAA event, but at 5:00pm they opened the field for anything to fly. Did not take long for T28 action, and I can say I was the first into the air with my T28! Wes soon followed, and it did not take long before full-contact combat ensued. I did manage to knock someone's canopy off, but somehow averted damage to my plane. Not that Wes did not try to take me out, though! Gotta save my T28 for the FFT.

Here are some pictures from the event.

Well, as Bob already posted Bealeton is a nice site and there were lots of interesting planes both models and full scale.
Here are some of my pictures:

1---- Hangar for 2 full scale planes. Also where the RC guys can put there planes at night to keep from taking apart. When I was at this show 4 years ago a 40% plane hit the windsock and all the pieces of the plane and windsock pole landed in the grass in front of the hangar.

2,3,4, 5 and 6 --- noon time lineup

7--- Andy Kane's T28 after some serious combat, the funny part is the wing broke like that in the air and was hanging on by a thread but Andy leveled it out and the lift caused it to stay in place. When he was on final approach the plane looked fine but when he stopped on the runway the wing fell down like shown in the picture.

Now for some full scale stuff from the Sunday afternoon show:
1--- the planes start gathering
2--- Stearmen that is used for wingwalking
3--- Fleet bipe from the USS Akron dirigible, this plane originally had a hook on top and could be pulled into the USS Akron.
4--- Taxiing out
5--- Stearmen
6--- Waco
7--- formation takeoff
8--- flyover

The first picture is from 1930 of the Fleet plane(from picture #3 above) hooked on to the dirigible. The funny thing is the max speed of the dirigible was the stall speed of the Fleet bipe so it says that pilots had to be very good to get the plane hooked on the first few attempts.

The second picture is a different plane but shows the plane after it has hooked onto the dirigible and been pulled up inside where they could service the plane.

Wes,

you left out about the part where we were putting our planes in the hanger, and we were talk to this who said if we wanted to go on a airplane ride. To go up in the fleet, it would be the best for aerobatics. But there was two things he left out. First was he was the one flying the plane and second he was an F-14 pilot. This was a really cool event.
