Vess Props on "Storm CHasers" !!

Last night (Sunday night) there were two episodes of storm chasers where they used a R/C plane to drop probes in storms to make measurements. You could clearly see the Vess prop on the front of it! Way to go, Robert!!

Yeah, that's a pretty cool way to use a Vess Prop! You know, it was a while ago when they procured those props from me. It goes to show how long it takes to get all the way to air-play.

Those tornados they get themselves into are awesome, aren't they!

Fiddy, I don't really know what happened, well that isn't exactly true. I was on my 2nd flight of the day when the Yak had a "glitch" like action, the elevator(I think just one of them) went down for a split second by itself, it returned to neutral but since I knew that I didn't do that I called for an emergency landing. It did the same thing on the turn for final so I cut the throttle trim way back and decided that as soon as I was over the threshold of the road to the north end I was going to set it down in the grass ASAP. I was 150 feet or so out when it did it again and I didn't have enough altitude to do anything but watch(and hear it) Thud into the soybeans. Needless to say most of the front part of the fuse is in a garbage bag, the rear of the fuse is the only thing that didnt get crunched. I don't know if I will ever know what caused it to start doing that, after we found all the satellite receivers everything checked OK at the crash site. RIP Yak #1
I PM'ed Chris Hinson and he said he has a container coming in next month.

Since it's getting colder, I wanted to add a wind chill calculator to the weather page to help with decisions on how much to bundle up before heading out for a day at the field. I'm working on trying to generate a dial or gauge-type display for wind chill, but haven't got that figured out, yet.

For now, if you go to the RDRC Weather page, you'll see a little calculator right below the weather dials. Plug in the peak wind gust you see on the dials, and the temp from the thermometer, and click "calculate". It'll show you what it _really_ feels like, if you're standing out in the wind at the field.

I've been able to make the system automatically calculate this info, and you can see it if you click the first weather data link on the weather page that's labeled "Quick Summary of Current Conditions".

Hope this helps some of ya'll!
Dave

Ken, yes I will need a replacement, I need to work some overtime in the next few weeks to help with the cost of a new one. Oh, yeah now I remember, you have one also.

Good thing you are still flush with cash from that new job ! All kidding aside dude, it sucks and I hate it. Like you said at the field though, it is one of those things, it's not like you screwed up, it just went in...

It will be a while before I will be able to start the build. You can have it now and replace it when you can. It would end up in storage now so you might as well put it to use. Let me know if you're interested.

It's just the right thing to do. I have more pressing issues right now and it doesn't make since to keep a fellow pilot down when you have an easy solution to help him out. Besides, I have another bird in the trailer just waiting for the smell of some fresh air.
