I had pretty much decided not to go to the field today because of the rain. We had a couple of pretty good showers before lunch, and I thought it was going to be bad the rest of the day. Well, Robert Vess called me from the field and said "come on" so Matt and I headed out that way with a couple of planes. Not many people there, so Matt and I got in quite a few flights.

Of course, the highlight was the T-28 carnage. A few midairs, LOTS of contact with the ground and local vegetation. The best part was the low inverted-pass competition. (Note: I learned a LONG time ago that the best you can possibly do in the low-pass competiton is to TIE ). New member Wes Ryman seemed determined to prove himself to the Circus, he totally abused his T-28. It started out in pristine condition, but by the time he was done he had no landing gear, no canopy, not much propellor left, and vegetation stuck in the leading edge of his wing. But it was STILL FLYING!!!

Matt had a blast with the 3DHS Velox. I think it is his new favorite. He must have flown 5 or 6 batteries in it.

Even though the pits was mostly empty, those of us there had a GREAT time. Thanks, Robert, for giving me a call and twisting my arm.

Yeah, it was a fun day despite the threathening weather, Bob! We just lived under the shelter when it sprinkled and then flew when it didn't. I think we were able to fly more than wait!

Matt is really flying the Velox well. I'm impressed by his attitude recognition in 3D.

My EF Yak is sure fun to fly. I was determined to fly it yesterday since I couldn't come out Sat. I got in 4-5 flights and sure love that thing! Larry trotted out to get a pic or two during one flight (below).

Wes Ryman passed his RDRC Travelling Circus initiation, for sure! YES, he went for it with his T-28 and even turned it into a "bush plane" as they tried to fly between two tall plants at the north end of the runway. Look at the pics below. Welcome to RDRC, Wes.

Fun times, as always, guys!

Thanks Robert, it sure was fun. I don't think the T-28 enjoyed it as much as I did but after losing one main gear during the mid air and have a broken steering arm when I got to the field it was easy to make it into a "belly lander" and it is a little faster.
See ya'll in Henderson.

Right after the club delivered the check to the Victory Junction Gang last year, the Radioactive showteam put on a show at VJG for the kids. Well, I flew my Vapor for what has to be the longest flight ever. In fact, it just landed! (EDIT: It was stuck on top of a light fixture.)

Nicole at VJG sent an email to Jeff Philips saying that it was now on her desk, and she wanted to know what to do with it. Hmmm, maybe I could win this back in a raffle, just like I won my Futaba jacket! Waddaya think, Larry?

Wow! That thing was in storage for many months, Bob. I'm glad you'll finally get it back.

Alright, let's get the list going for this weekend's trip to the Henderson Fly-In. I know Michael posted first so he should be going.....and the others I've listed have told me they are going. Larry said he has another committment so I know he's not going. Who else is in? And when/where were we meeting for breakfast again, Michael?

By the way, all you guys were having WAY too much fun with your T-28's Saturday while I was not able to particpate due to some air-to-air misfortunes I suffered at recent fly-ins. But looky here what arrived today.....PARTS to fix old ones plus a NEW ONE for a backup.

I will not miss another T-28 sortie...
I will not miss another T-28 sortie...

Everyone be sure to bring yours to Henderson Saturday!
