Ok folks!. The "First In Flight" jet meet is just around the corner now! Wow!!! These last eight weeks have flown by fast, just like a jet in fact!!!! The event will be held Memorial Day Weekend, May 28,29, and 30th, at the Wilson Industrial Airpark. That's located right off I-95 and Hwy 264 Business.
Lots to do, and a short time to do it. Typical for all fly ins I guess! All the details like tents, food, parking etc have been worked out. What we DO NEED now is a little help on Thursday for the set up. Thursday after lunch we will be allowed to enter the event area to begin setting up for the big event. Tents will be set up by the rental company, bleachers by the City, Porta-Potties by the vendor etc etc etc. We only have to provide the info where to put them.
What we need on our side of the house is simple. We have to erect two simple pop up tents, lay out some road cones, and put up some simple fence area to protect/separate spectator seating. This will be done by using some of that orange mesh fence on rolls. I have acquired 600 feet of it as well as the post to hang it on. We need a small crew to drive post and hang fence after lunch on Thursday. We need a second crew to set out cones. This is easily done by driving the trailer along a straight line while others set them off the side of the trailer. ( same as we do at Fly for Tots) We have a few other small things we need to do also, but nothing complicated or physically demanding.
If we get a enough folks out there on Thursday, we can knock all this stuff out quickly. Also, we need a few folks on Monday to do a tear down.
Also, DURING the event, we could certainly use help for things like, golf cart operation( jet retrievals down the runway) and an operator for the Gator. This vehicle will be used as an emergency response unit should we need fire control. Also, we will have other minor duties to be performed during the event like trash pick up, setting out pilot stations ( I made simple folding units for the event), and rolling out the X's to close the runway during the event. We have to re-open the runways at night, so we have to roll the X's up and lay them along side the runway. Again, its an easy task, and you'll have a Gator or golf cart to get yourself to the end of the runway!
So this is your chance to help out on a really cool event, and see some of the coolest jets on the east coast UP CLOSE! We have some of the best jet pilots around coming to this event already. In fact, they stretch from South Fla to Canada!!!! We have been amazed by the response to this event.

Hey Larry, i spoke with Robert a couple days ago and asked if the crew needed help. I took those days off for the jet Event and figure since I dont have a jet to fly I could help out. I will get in touch on times but I will be available Thursday morning if needed and will have a golf cart if needed. Anything to help out the RDRC crew and hopefully make this an ongoing event.
