WRCMA Annual Fly In
May 22, 2010 Wilson, NC Well unlike Raleigh, the weather held off for us in Wilson. Heck, even the sun came out early in the afternoon. To start the day off; Bob, Josh, John, Bill, Steve, and myself met at the Wilson crack for a morning meal. After eating and a short drive later we arrived at the Wilson's RC club airfield. I didn't get the final pilot count, but all I can say is that there were pilots with their setups from one end of the pits to the other. There were pilot prizes being given out throughout the day where I know several members from RDRC we on the receiving end. Then at 10:30 we did the traditional T-28 gaggle flight. No mid-airs occurred during this sortie but there was some ground and pound (sorry Josh). Later in the day there was a T-28 mid-air which let no survivors let alone big enough pieces to salvage. Something new to my report, I want to do some recognitions... #1 - Thanks to the Edward's family for their help promoting the First in Flight Jet Rally (May 28-30th). Not only did Drake and Dane (a recent college graduate - congrats again) offer to hand out flyers to the public, but they also took some over to the antique bark. #2 - No sure if anyone noticed in the AMA magazine this month or saw what he was wearing on Sat., but I want to recognize our new District IV Associate Vice President, Hotdog Josh Bunn. Congrats... now he has the AMA and IMAA under his control ![]() #3 - Josh and I for sacrificing our T-28 airplanes for a good laugh from fellow pilots and the crowd. Pictures will be posted on the Wilson's Club Website in the upcoming days. All I can say, there was foam flying everywhere. #4 - Promoting the First in Flight Jet, I had to break in yet another virgin field to the wonders of turbine powered aircraft. ( My count is now up to 3, but who's counting ) At noon time the King and I put on a little show... after a few bombing runs, some 190 ish MPH fly-by, high vertical climb outs, and some rolls it was time for the king to come back and land for the day. All I can say the 3rd landing was the best !!!Flying continued well past when the last two standing from RDRC (Josh and I) decided to head over the to Antique Barn to check out the train layout, do a little shopping, and see some RC car racing. If you never saw the train layout on the 2nd floor... you really need to get out there and do it. Very impressive. Once again a very nice day. We thank the members from the Wilson club on putting on a great flyin. Sow now on to the pics... Round 1 of 4

Wilson Fly-in was a blast, it was a good time. It was great to hang out with Josh,Bob,Michael and all of the other RDRC members. I think one of the members from wilson said they had 47 reg. pilots which I think was a new record for them.
Special thanks to the Wilson club, thanks so much for the warm welcome!! Chris |

And just some advice for all spektrum/JR users,, Make sure you tie all of your remote satelite wires up good,, I was practicing my sequence in Conover field friday on my Comparf 3.0 extra260,, I was doing the last maneuver which was a rolling turn,, and when it got inverted the plane went to idle and stay in failsafe for 1-2 seconds, I got it back , well after talking ugly I brought it around quickly and landed it,, we looked around, and one of my 4 remote receiver wires was laying on one of my MTW cannister mufflers ,, it had melted and grounded the satelite wire and shut the system off ,,,, if it hadn't have shook off I would have lost the plane,, but anywya just something to think about
