Sorry, could not resist. If it had been anybody but Gurley, I probably would not have posted that. Somehow, I can just imagine him doing that when he was a kid. (Maybe even since then).

LOL.

I will finish it tonight. I have to engineer everything, this is not like a normal airplane. I hope to take it to the club field first thing in the morning to see if it will taxi straight and maybe even lift off momentarily. Then I will go straight to the Jet Fly, regardless. Anyway, here is a sneak peak:

I'm not too optimistic that it will fly as is since it weighs about 14lbs and I'm guessing it has only about 3 lbs thrust. I may end up adding an EDF to it to augment the thrust for takeoff.

I picked the colors for the wing since they were old rolls, and I thought it would look really ugly, but it actually looks pretty good. The metallic green is monokote that I'm guessing was at least 30 years old. Nobody will ever convince me that the monokote you buy today is as good as the stuff they first came out with, this stuff went on SO easy.

Hopefully will see you tomorrow at the Jet Fly.

It certainly looks like it, doesn't it!! Actually, I did not start on this until last Saturday when I got the leaf blower, and then the wing from Larry. He had saved the wing from his old Kadet Senior. The covering was so far gone on it that I had to completely recover it, and do a lot of minor repairs as well.

This is something I thought about doing years ago. I thought it would be funny to go to a ducted fan rally with a flying leaf blower. Never had the gumption to actually do it until the Jet Rally in Wilson came up. Could not pass up the opportunity.

Whether it is able to fly this weekend or not, it WILL eventually fly if I have to put JATO packs on it.
