Well, I went by the RDRC field at 9:15 (Dave Langridge, where were you??) Wanted to test it before I went to the rally. Blair Price and Jerry Pope were there to witness the non-event. it does not even come CLOSE to flying. It won't even get the tail off the ground.

I did take it to the Wilson Jet Rally and put it out on the flight line. I was amused at the number of people that took pictures of it.

At this point, I will either have to add aux power (couple of EDFs??), or will have to completely gut the existing motor and fan to get rid of as much weight as possible (the leaf blower weighs 11.5lbs by itself) and install a really good EDF. OR, gut the inside and add a real small turbine and a stainless steel tailpipe. Now THAT would be AWESOME!!!

Bob...I bet you didn't use Jet-A, did you? I tell you, you gotta run the right fuel in these things, or they just won't fly. One other thing to try is slap a couple of Vess impellers in there....I have heard claims of 20% more thrust from that alone!

Bob...just FYI...I have that same leaf blower...watch the pull start assembly. The factory didn't tie the rope off very well when built. I have had to tear mine apart and rewind the starter rope before.

So...having said that...when are you gonna put a turbine in it?

Dang, I knew I forgot something. I forgot to put Vess stickers on it!!!

(I bet Robert would pay me NOT to put his stickers on it!!!)

The turbine option would be a LONG way off.

I'm having a different problem with the pull-cord. Mine has problems retracting. Oh, well, I can always use the cord to pull the thing around.

Prolly cause they also didn't "Set" the spring before winding the pull-rope. Had that problem with a Poulan weed whacker, course, it was allot easier to take apart and repair!
