Dang isn't that being a little harsh on a brother. What are the odds of me winning again this year?

Sikorsky has designed a new helicopter called the "X2" that is intended to fly at speeds previously un-achieved by any helicopter. And in recent flight tests, they achieved that goal by unoffically beating the previous record of 216 knots held by the Westland Lynx with a flight at 225 knots! They expect to ultimately reach 250 knots!

One of my friends is working at Sikorsky on a civil helicopter project that may eventually borrow from this technology.

Check out this Popular Science article about a guy who built a big B-50 (B-29 variant) model. It's interesting to read the claims of the article that this is the largest electric aircraft in the world.

Kinda reminds me of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_AH-56_Cheyenne

Reading that article, it is interesting that Sikorsky competed for the same contract as the Cheyenne, but used a tail-rotor that swung around during flight to provide forward thrust, instead of two separate rotors.

Looking at that new copter, I wonder how efficient the rear prop is, considering the hot turbine exhuast is blasting right through it. Seems like they would figure out how to exhaust through the hub somehow.

I have an RCM&E with the originbal article in it if anyone wants to see it. Tony designs and builds a lot of their plans that are given away in the magazine each month. His latest is a Halifax Bomber, looks really nice, but has nasty smelly engines on it...4 x 30 2 strokes or .32 4 strokes.
He is a prolific RC plane designer though and his models all fly very well.

Check this out! Oshkosh has started and pilots from all over are converging on Wittman Field for the EAA Convention. Well, it looks like NASCAR owner Jack Roush had a little problem during landing. I saw some video on the news last night. He was literally emerging from the door during the clip and sort of staggered out as the EMS guys came up and began strapping him to a back board. Amazing!
