Despite a little rain in the afternoon, the show was a big hit last year, and resulted in us making a lot of the public aware of the club and Fly for Tots. We will plan on the same format as last year, a small display during the farmers market, then taking over the central area in the afternoon. There is also a possibility that we can have a mini fly-in / demonstration area in the new North Hills east parking lot / lawn.

Everyone please plan to come out and help us make the public aware of our club and Fly for Tots. We would like to have every type of aircraft we fly represented, Vapors and T-28's to turbines, giant scale, helis and even hover disks !

See you there !

Wassup everyone? Looks like I'm not going to be able to make the Fly For Tots this year, unfortunately.... Everything's going well out here in California, though.... All in all, I miss all the fun times out there in NC, but the opportunities out here are pretty good.... I am workin hard learning the new airframes(U2 and RQ4) and while that's taking a lot of my time, I was slated for a deployment shortly, so with all the training that might be required for that, there is no possible way for me to take leave to have some fun with ya'll this year..... but this gives me plenty of time to plan for next year!!!

In addition to the cool new planes and the deployment, I just found out this week that I'm getting a promotion, which means more responsibility as well as a years worth of training, just to throw that into the mix...... Also just about to close on a house.... things are kindda busy, lol

Anyways, I just wanted to drop in and say hi now that I finally got internet and a keyboard to type on...(posting on a Droid can be a pain...) I'm still lurkin and enjoying yalls shenanigans all the way over here.... Please keep up the sweet pics and vids!!!!

So, about 5:30 Friday I get a text from Josh Hot Dog.com Bunn asking if I want to go to a fly-in in Hubert, NC today. After checking with the 9 months pregnant wife who I had just told I didn't have any weekend plans, I confirmed. His response was that he would pick me up at 5:30 in the morning....

Anyway, our mini circus contingent proceeded to the New River Modelers 5th annual Fun Fly to hang out, fly and spread the word about FFT. Despite a few technical issues, it was a good day with no trash bags needed !

Pure talent dude, pure talent....

Actually you can barely see in the pic that the wheel pant isn't completely happy and one of the wing strut mount blocks pulled out.

I had a good landing, but tried to pull the throttle trim down a little more as I touched down. I hit the stick and accidentally knocked the throttle up, sending the plane airborne again. Instead of just staying in the throttle and going around, I chopped it. Nosed over on the second landing. Stupid mistake, I'm lucky it wasn't any worse.

Nice prop, Jason. You can probably trim it down a bit, round the tips, and make a 6x4 out of it :-)
