Doing some PM on the Extra tonight, and discovered that one of the rudder servos (there are 4 8411's in there) was stripped through 180 degrees of travel. That must explain my poor flying performance...oh wait, Kyle was flying the same plane and his flights were just beautiful...danggit!!!!

This, having been my first opportunity to attend an IMAC contest, caught me by surprise. I have never witnessed a competitive event were the spirit of cooperation was so abundant. There was no whining, no bitching, no mean-spirited behavior... it was a gathering of friendly folks sharing their passion, and having a helluva lot of fun in the process.

What other sport exists where the contestants work together to judge each other? What would seem, to an outsider, a compromising (and a bit incestuous) arrangement worked flawlessly. Albeit the practical and economic factors that prohibit independent (i.e: non-contestant) judges from playing a role are a factor, the event unfolded as if this was the way all competitive events should be run.

My hat's off to you guys... much respect from me. I'll be there next time.

Les,

That is one of the main reasons that I enjoy this so much. It seems we are just one huge family and will happily help out someone else if needed.

I personally experienced it this weekend, a person who shall remain nameless (only because I had just met him that morning and I'm bad with names) noticed my rudder servo hunting for center during "stooge duty" and promptly offered one of his brand new 8611a's for free if mine gave up at all during the weekend.

We all know about Vinny so I will not even get into that one but witnessing that just reminded me just how great this hobby/sport is

So Bill, did you ever find out why that servo was hunting for center?

Larry and Jay,
Thanks for the kind words. Alex and I are headed down to Triple Tree for the Matt Chapman Youth Masters. This is the highlight of the year for me. I always look forward to the Youth Masters. It's great to see these young guys hang out and share this hobby! Hope to hang out with the RDRC Flying Circus soon! Until then...

Fly straight! Wings level!

Alex & Kent..... I just got through watching Alex's freestyle...... Man... I literally had goose-bumps watching the video..... He certainly is blossoming into one of the SE "new force"..... Congrats Alex..... We all knew you have it in you. Maybe Kent should start handing over the transmitter for you to land his plane after he competes.... heh heh...

I'm sorry I won't be able to make the Youth Masters this year after never missing an event, but I'll be at your contest in NC next month...
Bye
Wayne

Nope, it hasn't done it since. Maybe it was as nervous as I was...
