For flexibility ( assigning switches, mixes, etc) the 9z is only second to the 14mz. All high end TX's will accomplish the same thing, just that the Futaba's are able to do a little more. With this flexability comes a little more complexity too. I would also buy any synthesized version, makes waiting for a free channel almost non existent.

no matter wich radio any one ever gets dont get the 6 or 7 channel versions if fly much more than a trainer just get the 9c or better if futaba and the 9303 or better if jr dont waste time or money on any thing less you will have to upgrade later if you fly more needy models or if you decide you dont want to fly any more you will be able to sell the better radios for better $ and look at the cost diff between the 7c and 9c almost nothing same for my jr 9303 just a little more than a 6102 and no reason to get a 8103 when you can get a 9303
I second the synth tx and rx 2 new people just got in to the hobby and both are on my channel now i have synth on my 9303 and not worried except i have to keep a keener eye on what channel i put my card takes 3 button beeps to assign any thing to any switch on my 9303 cant get any easier than that

I love my 9C. It's more than I really need at this time, but I'm looking into the electronics I need for my 56%Extra(coming soon) and I plan on running 3 or 4 HS 5955 servos per aileron. This will be a lot of connections, so in my case, a 14MZ would be nice. IF you are planning on a 40% or smaller, the 9C is great. The JR9303 I've heard great things about, but I can't comment on it. The 10X, I tried for a few minutes, but I couldn't figure out the programming. Probably just me.(also probably too little time) The 9Z, It looks nice, but the new 12Z looks great. Right aroud the 10X in price.(last I saw) It also has the Dial-N-key which is really nice. Also, who do you fly with? JR or Futaba pilots? It's great to have knowledgable people who you can ask if you need help. Other than that, get the Tower4Th.(hehe, jk)

I have a potpouri of systems and the super 9c from futaba is very good and when I am at the impound handing out tx's I see just as many jr's too.I use jr servos really smooth and reliable and while I trust my 9c futaba the hitec line of rx's and servos are awesome..futaba is pricing themseleves out of existence.jr and hitec are what I use mainly.got lots of $$$$ ??try the new futaba radio that talks to you lol..

Futaba has the best bang for buck I think. A 9C can do everything most modelers do. I am Futaba. But if your LHS is primarily JR, then I would probably go with that so you can easily send it back to the factory, or what have you. They are both great radios in reality.
