I've had the Futaba 7C, 9C, 9ZWC2, JR 10X, and now I have the Futaba 14MZ. There all great radios. The big question you need to ask yourself is, how much do you want to spend, and what do you want to be able to do with the radio most importantly? If you want to be able to do alot of mixing then opt for the higher end radio's. Here's the best thing of all though. If you are willing to spend say $450-$550, you could easily pick up a Futaba 9ZWC2 or a JR 10X. Maybe even a little less depending on the deal you run into. Most people want to go to the latest and greatest radio which is the 2.4, and they are going to want to unload their 9Z's and 10X's to get them which will benifit you in being able to get a great radio at a good price. Then later on if you want to retrofit your radio to 2.4 you can do that as well.

Thanks for the replies, I am leaning towards the 72mhz stuff. I was hoping to get something in the 9 channel category. What are some of my options? Which is best?

i just went to extreme link on mine ane i think it is really just a bit faster than before and unlike some other 2.4 stuff xps doesn't reboot till it gets down to 3.2 volts and your servos are dead by then anyway.it is really solid and light.it all depends on what you want to spend and have but the 9c and xps is a great setup for me and priced right to

If you want a 9 channel your best bet is a Futaba 9c or the JR 9303, both are excellent radios, just depending on how much you want to spend.

I echo luv2flyguy, if you want a 9 channel, go with a Futaba 9c or JR 9303. It is hard to say which one is the "best" because it comes down to preference.

I'd go with the JR9303, I've been using mine for a long time now and I like the feel and the easy programing.

All you gotta do is decide between Futaba or JR. Both of their 9 channel radios are awesome. Go to your local hobby shop and use both. Some people like the programming user interface of one particular brand and they stick with it.

dubd is right on target about going to your LHS and handle the radios. It could be whichever radio fits your preferences when it comes to programming, sometimes it might even be as simple as which one feels better in your hands...

You haven't mentioned what brand you've been using and, if you change brands, you will also have to change receivers. Either 9C or 9303 are excellent radios. If you can, arrange to see the radios you're considering. Look at the programming and see how they feel to you. Pick the one you like best.

Get you a Spektrum DX7. This system is absolutely bullet proof. Some people say they have trouble with it. Then it is probably there fault, or it really is the radios fault. But I have this radio system in 2 planes now. Eflite 260 and Wild Hare Sukhoi in the 50cc version. No even phased by the vibration.
