Default Quick DX7 mode question

Hi guys,

My question is probably answered in DX7 manual ore somewhere else on forums, but i don't have time to search it, so maybe some of you DX7 ussers can answer this:
Can this radio be programed for all 4 modes? My friend have Mode 2 DX7, and i wan't to buy it for very good price, problem is i fly Mode 1. I know spring can be changed from thr to elev, but can it be programed to mode1, so i could have right expo, DR, etc..

Thx in advance!

hey donatas,

yeah it can be changed mechanically but you will have to get the radio reflashed at an authorised spectrum dealer. i work part time in a hobby shop and this is what we have to do in australia.

Quick Answer

If you fly mode 2 buy a mode 2, if you fly mode 1 buy a mode 1. As the previous poster says, yes you can change it mechanically but there is no way in the software to reconfigure a mode 2 to mode 1 (as with Futaba FF9 etc). Flashing basically means having the software re installed from mode 2 software to mode 1 software, normally this has to be sent back to the manufacturer. As for cost, don't know.

I made the mistake of buying a mode 2 thinking it could be converted to mode 1 but in the end I had to sell the mode 2 and buy a mode 1 set.

Hope this helps
Nick

Actually it can be done as I had to do it on a JR years ago. Swap the spring/ratcet AND the pots or the pot wiring. A bit more of a major but it works.

Just send it to our service center and we can change modes. Its not a problem. The programming doesnthave to be reflashed, just like all JR radios, the software supports all modes, it just has to be sent in to be done.

Dont just swap pot wires, if you do then the programming wont line up, i.e. elevator programming will effect throttle and vice versa.

Thanks for clearing that up Mike. Sorry for bad advice Donatas. So hows it done Mike? Donatas probably doesnt want to send the radio all the way from Lithuania and I wouldnt want to send one from New Zealand (I fly mode 3).
Regards Rod

Changing stick mode in the system software is easy if you know the correct sequence to enter the menus. I have changed JR 7202's and 9303's.

Someone must know the switch and button sequence?
