OK all you YAK lovers. I have just got off the horn with Andreas and we have a blue light to do a custom paint job FOR FLYINGGIANTS MEMBERS. We have the opportunity to design a scheme that WE!!!! like but it will be subject to a few limitations of course.
Please go to the CUSTOM 3M FG YAK thread so we can start for real on it there and I will work it through with the factory so we get a killer job on this. |

I noticed in the instruction manual for the 3.0 yak that it only has 4 cut outs for the vents. Comp-Arf recommends using a baffle. The 3.3 and the 2.6 yak has all 8 vents cut out and does not require a baffle. Any thoughts on the cutting the other 4 out and not having to use a baffle.

Wayne is correct.
I overheated the motor in my 3.3 on the 2nd flight. ( holes in both pistons ) The baffling is very simple to do. Well worth the couple hours it takes to do it. Here is how I did my 3.3/

Guys,
I received my Yak 55 3.3mts. form C-Arf, and is awesome, too bad the freight company broke/drop the crate and caused some damage in the front of the fuselage. The plane is incredibly light. I will be running a ZDZ-210 on it with canninster mufflers. I am building 2 jets, so it will take some time for the plane to be ready, but I will shoot you some pictures. Thanx Ed Rodriguez |

most of the guys with yaks down here use baffling because of heat problems. when richo built my yak he didn't cut out the vents except for the bottom ones. this works well on mine.

Guys, I had
a 3.3m Yak, and did NOT baffle the engine. I had over 200 flights on it (southern Pennsylvania area) with no engine cooling problems. I did, however, push the engine 2.75" forward of the firewall (to compensate for balance, and also this is scale to have your crank sticking out pretty far on a Yak).If you push the motor out toward the lip of the cowl, you shouldn't have any cooling problems on this plane. Pete
