Here is another new plane we are going to be carrying.
This is a .46 size Cap. The base color is yellow and they provide stickers to make it similar to Matt's cap if you want or you can add your own trim scheme. I have been flying the prototype for only two weeks now and all I can say is wow. I was very surprised how well this plane flies. Here are some examples. Tracks very true for a small plane. No coupling in normal knife edge flight and very little in high alfa knife edge. Nice stable harriers upright and inverted. Does a blender so quick you don't want to blink or you will miss it. Awesome flat spins either upright or inverted. Waterfalls so quick you can get in four to five rotations before it even starts to lose alt. Pretty much a good all around plane to have fun with. I only have eight flights on this one so far. We are going to try and get some video of it flying tomorrow. Now for the kit quality on a scale of 1to10 it is a 8.5. The plane is very light yet built very strong bout like a mack truck. I used the supplied hardware so I would know if it would hold up to hard flying. It is typical china hardware all metric stuff. Plastic clevises but with steel pins which is nice. Very stiff rods but don't try to bend them too far as they are so hard they will break. The covering is of good quality and acts similar (when treating the seams and wrinkles) to Monokote. The only thing I found that will be changed in the production run is the gear and wheel pants. The gear are too weak and will bend easy even on smooth landings. The wheel pants were too small for my taste so they will be made a little bigger to hold larger wheels and mount to the gear better. All in all this is a fun plane to fly and at a good price too. It should street at the LHS for around $149.00. Here are the specs. Wingspan 55in Fuse 49.2in Wing area 553 square inches Weight on box rtf 6.01lbs My plane weighs rtf at 6lbs 2oz Saito .82 with APC 15x4 prop 2.25 aluminum spinner Four plh metal gear digital servos One standard JR servo for throttle. One fromeco 2400 Batt. One MPI Miracle switch. This set up is unlimited. It will rocket out of hovers. The kits should be available by late April early May. Thanks for looking. Looks like the CAP's are back. Nice review, would love to see the video. Is this built similar to the Edge?

Got two more flights on the Cap today. We were going to try and get some video but the camera we had ate the tape five seconds in to the shoot.
Would have been some great footage as it was snowing pretty good at the time. We are going to try again later this week.

Thought I would give an update.
The Caps are in stock. I do have some video of mine flying but I can't get the computer to open the DVD it was transfered to, as soon as I can I will get it posted.

Is there enough aileron to keep it from torque rolling in a hover? I can't wait to see the video.

The 100 would be a little big for this plane. A .72 or .82 is as big as I would go.

Those are some nice looking planes, especially for 40 size aircraft.

I have one in castrol colors. I am running an OS 46ax with pitts muffler. How do you think this will go. Is there a site that teaches us how to hover, knife edge and waterfall. Have heard the terms and seen them performed but cannot remember the control inputs
Cheers Rod |
