Default Re: Comp-ARF Gee Bee ???

I traded for the damaged airframe Tony V. commented about earlier.

My only intention was to hang the bird from the ceiling in my office. I bought a replacement cowl and left wing panel.

But the more I look at it the more I want to put it in the air.

I'm seeing mixed responses as to the flying capabilities and just keep asking myself will it be worth the effort to get it back into flyable condition?

Any comments are welcome!

Thanks
Kurt Seiter

All race planes have a special look. I have been lucky enough to get all 3 my all time favourites. GeeBee, Nemesis and the Rear Bear. But from all 3 I think the GeeBee is the prettiest.
I Hardly fly mine but when ever I feel like something special I take her out.
If your CG is good and you have your throws dialed in she is not much harder to fly than any other scale plane. And once she is on the step she eats up the sky.
I thin the hardest part of landing is lining her up with the runway. You have to mix the throttle with the rudder to keep her flying straight with differant throttle settings. If not she sideslips like crazy and it is not so easy if you are not good on the rudder.
I really think you should get her going again. And the best thing is she looks like she is doing 200 even sitting on the ground.
You also have to sand the wheels so that they get thinner as the protrude from the wheelpants to stop binding when she has side pressure and causing the noseover.

Some pictures of the first flight before I added the decals
