its purely for redundancy - at the time (3years ago) i thought it better to go with 2 per wing and with Mike Mcconville's recommendation - but if I had to do it again, not sure, probably only one per wing -

What type of batteries and power expanders are you guys using? Anyone not using a power expander? What size batteries?

You guys running only one servo per wing I have a couple of questions for you. Which mount are you using? The innermost I assume but I want to know for sure.
Also, You haven't had any problems with flex or flutter? It seems to me that they are pretty long ailerons and would probably flex under the right conditions. Or maybe your building a new mount in the center of the aileron? Just wondering they might seem like stupid questions but I am pretty new to this giant scale stuff. I am planning on starting on my ultimate in about a month. Right now it sits in the basement taunting me every day. |

Man, I am glad to see I am not the only one too poor to get all the stuff I need at one time. As far as the one servo per aileron, I ask Mike M. and he said the inner most and it should be fine. I have the plane and my engine. Now I just gotta get all of my electronics

No power expander here, just 2 JR 4500 nimh batteries in 2 switches into 1 rx. Im using the inner bay on the ailerons. Several have done this before i did mine and McConville did it to his mount as well. Remember, the Ultimate was designed around the time when 8411's at 180 oz were the highest available. so long as a good strong servo, 8611 and up is used with good H9 and rocket city links is used, there should be no problem. As long as the aircraft is not flown past VNE , ie, full power dives, there should be no problem.
If you are worried about aileron flex, you can always strip them and add carbon stiffeners. |

Ronbo, are you using some type of battery share? How do you have two batteries going into one rx? Are you using one 8611 per aileron? What about rudder?
