Default Yet Another JR 10x Question

I am flying a comp-arf yak 2.6 with the spektrum module for the 10x. I have the spektrum 7 channel receiver in the plane. With the 10x you are supposed to have the elevators halves on channel 3 and channel 8. I can get the other elevator half on channel 7 however my elevator trim only works channel 3 and not channel 7. How can I resolve this problem. The plane flies perfect as is...but it would probably be good idea to be able to trim the elevator without corkscrewing into the ground. Any ideas. I also have a 9 channel spektrum, and I could use it...but would rather use the 7 if I can get away with it. I also noticed that the snap roll feature does not work either...on 3 and 7

Thanks

Philip

Are you talking about the dual elevator function in code 22? The left elevator servo(s) plug into the elevator slot on the RX and the right servo(s) plug into the AUX3 port in the RX. Be sure that you have your trims activated and that under code 17 you deactivated all of your switches. It is imperative that all the switches in code 17 are off if you're using extra channels for your main flight functions.

If your receiver doesn't have enough ports, you can always use a PMIX to link your servo halves. You can assign the other half of the elevator to any of the AUX channels on the 10X if you're not going to use the dual elevator function. I like using the dual elevator because it matches the servos throughout the range of travel without the need for a matchbox (if you're running more than one servo per stab half, then naturally you'd need to match your servos or use a matchbox for each individual side).

One of the things I REALLY like about the 9303 is the fact that you have some assignability to the extra servo functions. For example, you can setup the dual elevator function by assigning the right stab to several different slots on your receiver which is handy if you don't have the full 9-10 channel receivers that you would need otherwise to run the dual elevator function. I really hope the 12X has this, and if there's a "16X" out there somewhere.

Hope this helped.

Do a PMIX, and link the trim.

Thanks...I have it mixed...I just cant use the trim switch for both elevator halves. The throw is perfectly matched ...on aux 7...fortunately being composite I didnt need to use a lot of trim anyway, but would be nice to have both elevators functioning with trim on a 7 channel receiver...all of the switches are turned off from function 17. I have an X9303 or order and will probably go with the 12x when it comes out...but until then I am going to hodge podge with spektrum modules...I have seen too many nice planes go down because some moron turned on their transmitter without checking the frequency board.

This may be worth a try.

Set up dual elevators in function 22. Then do a mix from Aux 3 to Aux 2. The trim through the dual elevator function should work as Aux 3 becomes the master channel in this mix.

Kiwi, he doesn't have enough slots to do that with the 7 channel RX.

Phil, did you activate the trim for the slave channel? For example, when I setup a pattern plane of mine recently, I needed to use the 790 RX, but I had dual elevator servos so I went to Code 51 (go into whichever you did for the PMIX) and hit "page" twice. there should be a screen that says MASTER and TRIM at the bottom left of it. Make sure the TRIM is selected ON. I forgot to do this and my slave channel elevator servo would not work. I kept wondering why elevator trim kept introducing more and more roll into the mix and when I landed I saw that saw that only my elevator half plugged into the elevator port was trimming. I remembered that I didn't activate the trim after I was scratching my head as to what to do. Worked like a charm.

By the way Ryan, is there a way on the 10X to mix throw or ATF to throttle? I want a mix that for example on 1/4 throttle or less I have 50 throws on say aileron and above 1/4 throttle I get full deflectiion. Not a mix where the aileron is slaved to throttle, but where only the ATV or amount of throw is affected. You can do it on the Futaba but I can't figure it out on th 10X
Thanks

haste232,

I would have to sit down and play with that one. As far as I know, the 10X doesn't support conditional functions like the Futabas do, however, you may be able to play around with multipoint mixing and accomplish this. I'll look into that this evening and let you know if I can come up with anything.

Thanks, Ryan, I have been trying but can't seem to come up with a solution. I don't want to switch brands just for this.
