How do you get it down THAT low? What approach do you use?
Also, what engine and pipes are you running?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Robert

Pure enjoyment here also, and the first one ready to fly when I get to the field.
Mine has a DA 150 stock mufflers 30X12 mejlik. I lost my first one in a 25mph headwind doing low harriers I got the nose pointed down 10 feet off the ground slow and mother nature reared her ugly head throughing it into the ground I was full power full up to no avail.
My new one flys better than the old. And the pilot will not let the nose down, slow, in a headwind again.

the ulti is such a floater and because it doesn't stall you can come in on the ground and just pull it into TR or whatever - mine also KE's like a baby - going low is practice and confidence in the plane

I tried to go one servo but decided not to do the work to modify. I went with two 5985mg on each wing and it is plenty. Two 5955 would be way overkill, not to mention expensive.

Take in mind that the ailerons would need to be modified and stiffened if you are really going to throw this thing around. Having owned two and having one currently in my hangar, I still think two smaller servos would be best if you are not proficient at modifying a wing structure.

K,
The folks I know who are running one per wind did not do any mods. I have an H-9 Cap cut for 2 servos and I only use the inboard hole for the aileron with one 5955. So far its working great, easy set-up since today’s servo lets you set up a larger plane like a 1/4 scale with the power of today’s servos if you are not running into any series flex issues on those control surfaces.
It seems to also be filtering up to the 40% birds were we always saw 3 on the wings and 2 on the tail. Some kits and guys are having great results with 2 on the wings and one on the elevator. Since the Ultimate was designed for 8411 and that bird has a serious elevator half, I would have thought it would have been cut for 2 servos. That elevator is HUGE!!!!! It’s actual bigger than my Extra 40% by a long shot. And from what we are seeing that thing is working great on one servo, really surprises me more than the ailerons. The guys who are running only one servo here can you chime in and tell us did your deal call for any mods to the surface. I would imagine this would really show its face if you are speeding and making some serious banks and yanks on the sticks....

I'm really glad I found this thread.
I have just bought this Ultimate, and the question about the aileron servos have been in my mind since day one. Personally, I don't like flying fast with aerobatic planes. I like it slow, and in full controll. So I have to decide about the ailerons, when the plane arrives, want to feel the strength of the ailerons, and make up my mind then. I want to put a Seiko on the rudder, and since you guys say that it is a nose heavy plane, I think of making a hatch in the bottom, far back in the tail section, and try to install the Seiko there. Short cables for the pull pull. I just bought a 3W 150 QS, which I think will perform great in this plane. So, until I have the plane in hands, have a nice day

I can tell u I will be doing 1-5955 on the ailerons and I am thinking of buidling a spot in the rear for 2-8711. the 5955 part is a go still on the fence for the rudder....
