2007 RDRC NC Fly for Tots!

Some of the work force that was out today. Lots of people have helped put this thing together but I don't think any one has given more of there time, energy, and resorces than Dave Hockaday of East RC and Larry Lewis RDRC Pres. Thanks Guys, This is gonna be Good !!

Guys. I just left the field where everything is now in order for tomorrow. Larry and the rest of the RDRC guys have things totally ready and looking great!

And folks have been rolling in all day, setting up tents on the flightline, doing some flying, and getting excited about the weekend. Jerry and Jeremy Holt (The Worm) are here and have been wringing out the Ultimate all day. Also, Mike Saleeby and some of the Greenvile contingent have been tuning up his new Ultimate with several flights, too! I also saw a few guys from Lumberton and Charlotte.

The rain was coming for the evening but let me assure you all that the weather man is calling for it to get out of here by the morning and we will have BEAUTIFUL 70-80 degree sunshine both days!

By the way, Larry has arranged a surprise for before lunch tomorrow...get those batteries charged in your cameras!

I'm off to the airport in a little while to pick up Quique....let the festivities begin!

oh boiy...and the rain fell......and fell...and fell.....ah well, we needed some rain...hohum

Just got back from RDRC, & they are haveing a blast up there. Weather is good, and so is their turn out. Got to see QQ fly his bipe!! Awsome performance. Got great deals on venders row also. Met some old friends and re joined the Rocky Mount club. Probably head back up tomorrow..........

Wow! What an event!

Matt and I stayed at the field in the camper both Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night was WET. Glad to get the rain, we really needed it.

The ONLY thing that could have been better was the wind. It was a bit breezy both days, although Sunday had periods where the wind was not bad. The cool temps on Sunday morning were a real surprise. Had to turn the heater on in the camper. Glad I had my HPP jackets in the van!!

I've got a lot of pictures I took, although I spent most of my time with a camera in hand, helping out Fred. (Speaking of Fred, he and the Distractions were the real show on Saturday night!!). There is one picture I will go ahead and post here. It is a shot taken just 2 seconds before RJ Gritter made a "Hempel one-wing landing". His Cap shedded a wing during flight, and he managed to fly it around for maybe a minute before he was able to line it up with the runway and touch down on the field. The only additional damage done during the landing was the right stab being torn off. I think if he could have landed it into the wind (there was a pretty strong crosswind) he might have been able to roll it over onto the gear. Anyway, here is the picture:

Great event. I was pretty distracted on Saturday preparing for the Film Fest and live performance of The Distractions but even with all that I still have so much good footage I can't wait to start sorting through it. Jay and Larry got their matching yaks down on the deck inches from the lens. Quique's demo RIPPED...more than once he was pushing the limit so hard I thought he might dump it. Chris Hinson doing his "Yellow and Black" magic. RJ's passige into the "Hemple" club. Awesome people, great weather. Spectacular event. Great job RDRC!!!!

Can't say it enough hats off to everybody at RDRC and sponsors, great event and cause. The money that was raised was off the hook!!!!!!! Thanks for letting us be part of this special event. Can't wait until next year.

You don't know how much we appreciate you and the whole Radioactive crew coming down and flying with us. Bringing the simulator trailer was the icing on the cake.

When I got to work today I had a couple of fellow employees say they had a great time at the FFT. In fact, we might get a couple of new club members since two of their kids expressed real interest in getting planes and learning to fly.

Not only did we raise money for a good cause, this event has done a lot to promote model aviation!
