Default Hello from Savannah, GA

Hello everyone, first thread with my new forum. Just moved to Savannah from York, PA. Still looking for glider pilots close to SAV. Used to have a blast @ the Breezyview Overlook site above the Susquahanna River flying slope gliders. Found a descent club to satisfy my 3D and Scale flying here in GA, but I'm still loking for some more glider pilots near Savannah. Seems GA's too flat for slopin, but I could settle for some flat-land thermal action. Send me a line if anyone knows of any good glider sites near Savannah. Also gettin ready to bust into a 50cc class 3D plane. Impressed with the Airwild Hobbies 29% Extra260. I do have one concern after I round up the money to set up a 50cc bird,....... Has anyone been able to fit that size plane into a Volkswagon Golf GTI. Maybe I need to buy a bigger vehicle before I get a bigger plane. Drop me a line if anyone has experience with big plane in a little car. Justin-Tri County R/C Flyers

I think you might be able to get it in there. If the back can come up you can deffinately get it in there.

I used to fit my 30% into a Kia and Honda Civic.

Hi Justin,

I lived in Savannah in "92-93 and absolutely fell in love with the area. I made some great R/C Friends in the short while I lived there and ultimately plan to relocate to the area some day when I retire.

The flying field out on Sand Hill road was a good bit out of town but what a great flying site. I believe it was used by the military as a helicopter practice field.

Best of luck to your family as you make your new life in the South.

Justin,

We lived in Savannah for a few years as well. I dont know about any flying clubs but know you will enjoy the town.
Make sure you go downtown to enjoy all of the fountains and parks. If you want a great place to eat, try the Chart House down on the river. The food is awesome and the view is great. Make sure you head out to Tybee Island to the beach. Lots of fun is to be had there as well.

Justin,

I have the sister plane from AirWild, the 29% Edge and I can shoehorn it into my Honda Accord Coupe with hardly a problem, I would bet your Golf is a bout the same if your rear seats fold down.

BTW, I second the thoughts on the shops and pubs down on River Street, you'll love em...

Thanks for the welcome Ken. If you're ever close to Savannah, look me up. Don't have a designated drinking buddy yet. I still need to check out the night life out here. Let's party
