Hi Guys,

Just wanted to give you all an update. We started production a few weeks ago of both the 36% and 43% Edge 540. We are hoping to have these aircraft here and shipping sometime around the end of the year. I want to thank the FG crew and the many pilots who had a chance to fly it and offer your input during the Vegas Huckfest, you guys rock! This is quite an airplane and we’ve worked very hard on this one and it’s nothing but top shelf. The new Edge’s will come with a complete hardware package, built up wings, and will be pre-hinged. We will have a formal soon announcement right here on FG.

Ken if that is the finish on the covering,I love it.

The covering is all Ultra-cote pearls except the white. ARC's are not in the plans as of right now. But if your really interested in an ARC send an email to Herve at info@bmeaircraft.com.

Ken,What servo's/electronics did you guys use in the proto type that was shot in the video,I may have not read back into the tread enough,My bad.lol

I used all 8611's except the rudder. 6 for the wings, 4 for the elevator half's. I used 2 8711's on the rudder. I used a single JR Rx with a Smart fly EQ10 power expander which is nice because it does all the servo matching as well. Two 5200 Fromeco batteries for power and a 2600 for ign. I also used all Fromeco regs with HD wire with deans and a Wolverine switch which BTW is just fantastic. Those switches are going in all of my planes from now on. I went fairly simple on the setup.

I reserved my 36%er. If it flies nearly as good that 43%er in the video, I'll be a happy camper. any engine suggestions?

Norvel .40 should be perfect!

Seriously, you'll probably be happy with whatever you get. I haven't seen the numbers, but you might be able to get away with an 85 single, other than that 3W, DA, BME, ZDZ etc. are all respectable twins with folks that will hate them. Take your pick. Don't let anyone influence your decision.

thanks 50% I'm leaning toward buying another DA85 but with a pipe this time if it will fit. PAU how long is the tunnel?

Yakpilot,

As far as engine choices there's a bunch. Here are the engines I have experience with.

DA-100 Great power and great customer service.
BME-115 Great power and very lightweight.
ZDZ-100ng Light and Good power with the smoothest throttle range.
DA-85 Gobs of power for it's size on a pitts muffler and a money saver.

We did not provide a tunnel for a pipe. The canister tunnel is approximately 500mm long from the exhaust port. So you would need to modify it to accept a pipe. If noise is not an issue the DA85 with a pitts will be more than enough. I'll be putting a couple more of these together when they arrive. I may go with the BME for those.
