Alrighty then, I've been busy, just haven't added to the Thread in a bit. I got the landing gear on including the tailwheel. The big item was getting the engine mounted. After seeing how others speckle-painted the engine area I just had to do it.
Here's a couple pics. |

I'm just not sure that is going to be enough throw. Now the trick is to get it to do that with a couple servo's hooked up to it.
I think I have only ever run like 38 degrees or so in mine.

Show some more photos of that rudder horn install if you have some. I've been thinking of using one but it looks complicated.

Hey Steve,
Sorry I didn't think to take pics while I was making it. basically what I did was cut three pieces of 1/4 inch light-ply to the shape of the Rudder from the bottom. then I sandwiched one piece between the two horns and marked the 4 holes. I then clamped the 3 light ply pieces back together and drilled thru all three. then I just bolted together the three pieces with the horns in the middle. I leave the ball links on the horns to keep them aligned. I cut out the bottom balsa and the leading edge. Remove just enough of the foam and fit the horn assy in. Place the leading edge back on and CA in place. Use a straight edge to make sure the holes for the ball links are right at the tip of the bevel. Once satisfied with the fit use Gorilla glue to lock it in place. There is a pic in post 47. It really isn't hard to do and looks and works great. Al, You did give me the 90 degree ones. I just didn't want to showoff Now to the build. Last night I painted the plane with Sig Stik-it. This stuff is the best. If you hate it when your covering wringles in the sun then it is a must. WARNING: Do this outside or in a well ventilated place. This stuff has M.E.K and other goodies in it. Real nasty stuff so Don't use it in the house. Ok off the soap box. Brush it on and really spread it out. You only need a thin coat. it's a bit thick so keep working it. Once it dries lightly sand all surfaces with 200 to 400 sand paper. This smooths out the bumps for a smooth finish. So tonight I started covering. |

I like the covering scheme that you have done. nice work!
how are the wings attached to the fuse? with bolts as the incidence pins like comp-arf or a bolt through the wing tube like an aeroworks plane?

Thanks for the comments guys.
The wing uses a wing tube but the wings are held in place by four 1/4X20 knobs from the inside of the fuse. Two per wing. Makes it real easy to take on and off. These knobs also act as the alignment pins. |
