Just thought if there was enough interest out there I would document the whole process for anyone else that would like to build one. Great flying plane.

It will from Jack Strickland plans. I built 2 of them some years ago strickly from the plans with no mods. This one will be modified to excell in 3d style flying. The lasers were great planes but fell victim to the extra's and edges of the day. Just thought Id do something a little different than anyone else right now. Im shooting for 30 lbs on a 150cc motor with built up wings as I still have the jigs to build them in. Look forward to posting pics and details as soon as I get started.

That would be awesome!
As a matter of fact I flew with Jack Strickland today at an IMAC contest in Oklahoma. I got a stir on the sticks when the contest flying was done. It is really a great flying plane. It snaps really good! Jacks Laser is 11 years old and still going strong. His has a 3W 150 on it now and weighs 33 points. The vert is good to say the least. Lets see some building. Dan |

Jack has forgotten more than most of us will know about rc planes and especially engines. Give him a shout. Dan |

Id like to see more of this plane again. And yes, Jack is a marvel of information. Experience in anything is always an asset. It would be cool to see a 40% done. Why not use a 100 cc instead? 2lbs less would be @ 28lbs and fly even better...just wondering. My buddy was doing a 35% with the DA- 85.

[quote=forgues research;274611]That is very interesting, and I would love to get a set of these planse and build one myself with no mods, I don't fly 3D...
Can you tell me the specs of this airplane such as wing span, lenght and such. Thanks Roger[ Hello Roger I have the plans avilable for the 40% Laser. There is 1 mod from the plans that is very important. if one is going to use a 140-180 engone, the wings must be sheeted fully with 3/32 7 lb balsa. One fellow is using a 11.6 sachs, and says it will handle the power ok. This is assuming the wings are built on a jig using 1/2 inch blue foam, think its 2lb density. span is 116 in. length is 88 in. from the prop hub to the rudder. not sure if I can quote price on here or not. If interested : email is----wells1933@arbuckleonline.com Phone -anytime- 580-276-5322. did not mean to horn in here. Best of luck to anyone building this bird. Regards to all Jack Strickland |
