Default Dalton 260 Ailerons More throw

Well as some of you might know when we built the dalton 260 two years ago we kind of messed up putting the ailerons on. We put them on and didnt beval enough and I dont get much throw in the ailerons for doing 3D stuff like rollin harriers and fast rolls. It also limits me on other 3d manuvers. This is suppose to be my solid imac plane but I soon would like to fly it in Freestyle sometime. I am using robart pin type hinges. Any tips or trick I could use to remove the ailerons and fix the problem I have. Or would it be worth doing??? www.teamkamakazi.net I have some 260 videos on there and you can look at my roll rate that I have. This is something I would like to do over this winter before IMAC starts back up in 2008.

Are you running two or three servos per wing? At 30 degress of throw(5" up and 4.5" down), I was getting a little blow back in certain conditions, but the roll rates were pretty fast. I went to three servos(5995's) per wing, and it made a big difference. The snaps are really soild now, roll rates almost doubled, and way more than you can keep up with while doing 3D. I'd try this first before having to cut and rehinge if your only running two. You'll see a big difference, in both IMAC and 3D.

I have three hitecs in each wing. 5955. It may be less than 30 really. I have some pictures of it somewhere on here the amount of throw I get. It was in my build thread.

theres the picture. It might be a little less than that because that was taken with no servos installed so I might be putting little more pressure upward on it than the servos do.

Totally need to cut the hinges and bevel the edges more. Try to get around 45-50 degrees. I use more throw than you have in IMAC and you may see a difference in snaps when you modify your wings. It could be dangerous at times doing certain types of maneuvers with that little bit of throw. What type of hinges do you use? Robarts are easiest to cut. See you at Tripple Tree.

Luckily I have robarts. I will let you check my 260 out and see what you think about it. I have notice snaps being harder to do at certain times.
