Was at the field today and couldn't get the motor running on my Extra.

It looks like I'm having a number of issues, not sure I'm pulling enough fuel, no matter how much I choked it the plug never got wet. That's the first thing I'm looking at. I've got the plut out and back in the cap and no matter how hard I flip the prop, I'm not getting spark. When I first turned the ignition on, the plug sparked once, that's not even happening now.

I checked the power from my regulator and I've got the right amount of voltage, so that's not the issue. Motor is a ZDZ-80RV with the older 4.8V to 6.0V ignition. I'm running a 2700 mAh NiMH on a Duralite 6V reg.

I'm not a happy camper right now...I might be flying my old Pattern plane at the contest, was not my original plan...

Billy,

Hurry up and ship me one of those DA-85's The money isn't there right now, but it will be

Jampilot-Where have you been? I haven't heard from you in some time. you are coming to this IMAC contest right?
The plane will be airborne as soon as I get back from wyoming. I'm delivering a boat up there to some place called Big Horn or something like that.[/quote]

Shaun, we have had a very busy year at work. We are starting a shutdown Sept. 1st - Oct. 15th. and I am S/D coordinator. I was looking forward to coming up there to the IMAC contest, but unfortunately I don't think I am going to be able to make it. If for some reason I can make it, I will give you a holler. Good luck with the new plane. Oh one more thing. Are you going to be able to make to the Houston Huckfest?

LOL !!! Good to hear from you guy's !!! I've always got to check in on the "Texoma" contests. I remember when a group of us from San Antonio went to the very first one that Wyatt Spurgin Held back in 1998. We all had a blast then, and I had a blast at everyone that I went to after that right up to the last one I attended in 2005.

Sorry to hear about the long hours. I should have had this plane done a long time ago. If not for my long hours that I've been working, I too would be flying right now instead of being a keyboard pilot .
My hours will start slowing down now that the summer wimll be winding down soon.
I'm thinking about going down to Houston. I haven't yet made up my mind. I had hoped to make Tuscon but since that is out form lack of funds, maybe Houston is going to be put in my calender.

I may not make this year after all. I may have to take the family to the inlaws lake house now that I am going to the Shootout.

Do you have any other ignition to try? Also did you go directly to the ignition from the battery? Sometimes regulators will display voltage but there is not enough current. Cauisng it to malfunction. Just a guess. Hope you can get her going. But if not,,Bring that ole pattern ship and fly the fool out of it.

Hey laser,

I didn't have another ZDZ ignition, wish I did. I did try everything including going with a freshly charged 4.8V pack direct, nada... I did take the ignition off of my Evolution 35 and connected it to the batt.,reg and switch setup on the Extra, works fine.
One way or another, my plan is to be there!

I wish I'd have thought of that, if there's a burned up part in it, they'd fix it. I'm not sure if RC Showcase repairs them or just says if it's good or bad. It's on the way to RCS now.
