If your budget is $3000 you have lots of options from 50cc up to 100cc (if you buy used). For example, you coud spend 1/3 on engine and muffler, 1/3 on airframe and 1/3 on electronics and such:
80cc engine/muffler: $900+ 75cc Aeroworks 260: $800 Good digital servos (5): $500 Prop/Spinner/Incidentals: $300 That's $2500 for a nice flying plane. If there is anyone in your area who is already into gassers, I'd see if you could get together and get some first hand guidance. Have fun. |

The SD-model planes fly good.. IMO.
i got couple vids.. but mine is the 37.5% Yak.. I have heard a lot of good things about the 33% yak.. i would give a shot on that one, but if you want something that is easier and FASTER to build, then definitly go with the Aero-Works 33% Yak or Extra 260! Their quality, and support is awsome! cant go wrong with Aero-Works

with 3000 you can have a well equipped 33%, I personally think that SD planes are aweson so depending of what you like and type of flying chose your airframe. I am more into 3D so the 33% yak and DA-85 would be my choice.

i was thinkin of that its not much smaller than a 35% and also cheaper and i was thinkin maybe the wild hare 33% 260? i just havnt seen a 33% sd models extra 260 vids or build threads so most likely extra 260 from wild hare

There are plenty of build threads on 33% sd yaks. Do a search here and on rcuniverse.

50cc is a good place to start. Concerning budget and or as a first gasser I'd pick a Wild Hare. They have a pretty wide range of planes that all fly great, are well built and made for the fliers budget.

well if your budget is $2000 i would definately be looking at used airplanes if you want a 33%.But what i would do is buy a good 50cc set up like the wildhare combos or an aero-works 50cc. I am in the same position as you know but my budget is $1,500 i will probbly be buying a wildhare combo or a nice used plane.
