I'll pay for shipping.

Those 260's look pretty sweet. I'm looking forward to shulman's electric 260 that should come out sometime before Christmas... He was flying it at the Joe Nall.

Flatten out with or without the SFG's? I find it doesn't spin well with the SFG's but does better without them. But over all, I enjoy flying it with the SFG's so I leave them on.

Troy,

Thats with the SFG's on - The problem is (well I think) that the SFG's provide too much vert fin area and dominate the rudder in the flat spin. I also think the ailerons become too effective since the SFG covers the tip of the aileron. Its basically a wild ass guess but gotta try something...

But yes it is difficult to do a proper flat spin with the Funtana X 50 or 100..

I am going to try to make my own SFG's - in a similar fashion but reduce the height and shorten the length to come just short of the ailerons. I think this should provide enough side area to get rid of the wing rock in harrier but allow the plane to flat spin better. I was thinking of just cutting them out of 1/8 inch thick Lexan. Similar to what QQ is doing on the newer versions of the Yak.

I think it would be fairly easy to do actually...

I'm not sure but it's around the same size as the Mini Funtana. I'll see if I can find pics.

I think all funtanas have gear problems. I have the original f40 and I rebuilt the gear really strong and don't have any problems now. I also made my own sfg's and it flies much better in knife edge and high alpha maneuvers but I also see the same difficulty in flat spins. Before the sfg's it had one of the best flat spins for that size aircraft but now its just not quite as pretty but still a good trade off.

That's strange, I can do climbing flat spins with my Funtana 100 and the SFG's.

Ya, well the mini doesnt flat out near as good as the 100X.. i have flown 3 different funtana 100's and i think that the flat spins get flat really easily, but the mini doesnt want to flat out IMO

Thanks, I appreciate that info because even though my buddy and previous owner of the Mini-X said it wouldn't spin flat, I still thought I was missing some finesse to get it there. I should say my issues have been more with upright spins... It's one of the reasons he traded it to me. I still like it over all but I fly more pattern style aerobatics with it than dance on the prop all day. I have other ships I enjoy more for that. But your video is inspiring.

So I have flown several Funtana's - but not the X50 yet...

Tony have you tried flying it without the SFG's. I still think that if reduce the squares on the SFG's it will help with it getting into a nice flat spin...

The airframes are very similar...
Tony did your 60 sized Funtana do flats very well? I remember it begin a bear to hover ???

Sweet flying! I had a Mini for a few weeks and liked it for the most part. As shown in the video, it does awesome rolling harriers. It's the perfect RH practice machine; you can drive it around all day, err.. pack long, with the ailerons pegged. Mine did nice upright and inverted harriers as well. Like all Funtanas, it lacks rudder authority, even with the SFG's - which it flies much better with. It does awesome blenders and inverted flight spins but won't really flat spin upright. It does a killer KE spin as well. I abused the hell out of mine and it took it like a champ. It's a VERY tough airframe but at the expense of weight. Built exactly as prescribed, mine was 31-32oz's AUW depending on which battery I was using. At 5500ft it would pull out of a hover, but it was not ballistic. I would roast a 2200Mah pack in about 8-9 min if flying aggressively. Did I mention it was tough? I had a lot of unplanned landings due to the pack dumping in less than ideal situations. The worst thing I would do was break a prop. I finally stripped an elevator servo in a full throttle blender to KE Spin and it plowed into the ground at full throttle at a 45 deg. angle. Everything in front of the wing was destroyed including a battery pack. First plane I've totalled in over 2 years!
