Default aluminum engine mounts or not?

I am building a new firewall and possibly a motor box for my 42% extra and I would like to get opinions of if I should build a motor box for the engine or just use aluminum engine stand offs. the engine is going to be a 3W 212 4 cylinder and I need the engine to stand off the firewall 2.5". what would you do? I am not really concerned about weight but more about strength, will the aluminum mounts be strong enough or not?

Thank you for your opinions and thoughts.

This is just my opinion. I would not want to hang that engine out 2.5 inches on motor standoff's. I have 1 1/2" standoff's on my DA 150, but would not have gone any longer. It may be fine, but I would build out the motor box if you have that option. Motor standoff's are good to have in some set ups to allow airflow between the engine and the firewall. Just my .02 cents.

that is what I was thinking but I have seen 2.5" spacers on planes before as well. the alum mounts would be easier and quicker to install but I think for safety and peace of mind I will do the wood motor box.

Sounds like a good plan. Let us know how it works out.
