LANDING GEAR and WHEEL PANTS
Unlike many ARFs on the market today the wheel pants are notched so you don't have to do anything more than squeeze it between the axle and the landing gear. It's little innovation like this that puts this kit a step above the current crop of competitions. Having build and flown many ARFs, 3DH knows how to make our lives a little easier .The pics should be self explanatory. |

BoneDoc,
It's really looking good man. I've never really flown one of the SHP's, but I have much experience with the katana's and if this thing flies anywhere near as well (I've heard it actually flies better ) then it's a very well proven winner. Ben really does a nice job with his airplanes. BTW, will you be coming to SEFF with Ben next year?Matt |

Matt,
I've seen some of your work, and I'm sure that in your thumbs, this plane will totally rock. Actually, in any thumbs, it'll make them a better flier. I've flown both the Katana and the SHP. The SHP is indeed a step (or two) beyond what the Katana is. |

Ok, so done with the "major" building... is there any building at all here .Here's a pic of her, including the empty weight so you can figure out what your total weight will be. |

MOTOR MOUNTING
Next up, mounting the motor. This is about as simple as marking where to drill, drill and bolt it in .Note that a 1/4" spacer is included that would fit the recommended Torque 4140-570 just perfect. This is quite a nifty idea as there's room for someone to use a larger motor (if they wish). |

Thanks,
To complement the look here's the decal that comes with the kit. My favorite is the motor decal that says "Powered by Massive Ammount of TORQUE"

INSTALLING THE COWLING
oK, almost done here . I just use the standard tape method and it works GREAT. Just to keep in mind, you'll need to CA your holes because this plane will do some really violent maneuvers. If your cowling isn't secured properly, it will come off (don't ask me how I know this ).

Rudder Pull Pull
All hardware are stock, and they work really well. The pic of the tail is before I crimp it down, so don't worry folks . There's even a slot for the pull pull cable to come out from. How cool is that.

Looks great Josh!! I can attest to everything stated here in this thread as I have been giving the opportunity myself to fly a pre-production 55" SHP. I have to say that this plane will set the standard for all future 40 sized electric airplanes. Mine comes in at a RTF weight of 4lbs. 14oz.
This is using the stock setup that will be recommended on 3D Hobby Shop's website(except the battery packs). Setup: Torque Revolution 4014-570 (Rated up to 1500W) ![]() Airboss Elite 80A ESC MaxAmps 5s 4000mah HV (5) HS-225MG servos APC 15 x 6E ( I am also testing Xoar props as well) This plane has an incredible pitch rate, more than I have ever experienced on a plane in this size category. But the AWESOME pitch rate can be easily tamed with some higher expo settings than you may be use to. This plane will ACCELERATE on a vertical upline till it is just a speck in the sky. Then you can bring it down in a FULL THROTTLE downline into one of the wickedest blenders you have ever seen. Try that with your average sports model and you will be picking up pieces. Every done zero altitude loss waterfalls? This plane can do'em. SWEEEET!! Hey Max are you planning on coming to the Thistledowns event in Napoleon, OH this year? If so I am planning on bring it with my 3D Hobby Shop (beta) 85" Extra 260 (electric powered of course) to the event. You are more than welcomed to try your hands at it. As a matter of fact anyone that attends the Thisledowns event this year can have a crack at it. Josh I look forward to tracking your progress on this fantastic new 3D Hobby Shop plane. Tim BTW - Here is a little video of me flying my 55" SHP on its third flight 3DHS 55" SHP |

Ok, got my first couple of flights, and I love it! It tumbles better than any plane I've ever own, and it tracks superbly also to boot. Coupling in KE is also neglible and harriers are super stable.
Here's a quick vid of me goofing around with my SHP 55" SHP Video - BoneDoc |
