This is a GIANT foamie, why not announce it to FG members first!
The BigAss Foamie YAK was originally designed as a flagship for our line of kits here at DW Foamies. It quickly became a hit with everyone saying “That’s really cool, I want one”. It’s a scaled up version of our popular YAK 54, designed by Pedro Brantuas. With its huge 55 ½” wingspan and 50” length, the 9mm Depron construction supports this airframe very well. This foamie can take up the entire bed of a pickup truck, so we have made the wings removable for easy transportation by removing 4 nylon screws. It uses a 9mm carbon wing tube and a carbon joiner, along the carbon front and rear spars. The control surfaces incorporate our famous “Torque Rod Hinge” system. This system distributes the stress along the entire control surface, also adding an additional spar to the flight surface. Mike, are you really going to start selling these? I thought they were only going to be for demos and shows. I think people will love them. I have flown the BiggAss YAK on a few occassions. It is really fun. It is very well balanced like it's little brother. I was surprised by how slowly it flies. It is the closest thing in foam I have found to flying a 40%. If you are looking for something different and exciting in a foam plane, try this one.

Larry,
It was IMAC pilots like Joey and others that inspired me to market the kit. To launch our new product, I'm doing an introductory offer of $89.95 for the next couple weeks. Shipping should be under $10.00 in the CON U.S. Mike www.DWFoamies.com |

Thanks everyone for the orders! I'm looking forward to hearing about your building and flying experiences. This YAK is truly unique in its construction, you'll have a good time with this one. If anyone has questions, feel free to post them up here so others can share in on the fun.

I wonder if anything i have could lift this thing? I have an Axi 2217-16 that was on an inspire mini. It was about 24oz with an 3 cell 1500. I also have a Hyperion Z3007-30.
i think they are both probably a little small for a 33oz 3D airplane. Whats the weight before batts? |

Gareth,
I just checked the Hyperion Z3007-30, with a 12x6 APC-e prop on 3S lipo you will only be pulling 240 watts. You won't be happy with that setup. You will need between 350 and 400 watts to have fun with it. Check out the Scorpion 3020-12 from Inmov8tivedesigns. Lucien is the owner, they have a great product and are willing to hep out at anytime. Mike |
