Total build time on Mikey's Yak was around 4 hours. It was hella-fun too! Wayne will have a formal FGPP review on this beast, along with Lucien's motor and setups.

When you mounted one servo on the bottom and one on the top. Did you wonder why that would be? I bet you had a great reason at the time for doing it.

Ya, I put an alieron horn on upside down. My fatal foamy flaws are much sought after in some areas of the world, it's my trademark. Hey Jon, what's that in the background of the picture?

But check out that killer wire management. I learned that from my profession as a techie. I love my new hot glue gun - screws, double sided tape, and epoxy are waaaaaaaaay over rated.

I burned my hand about 10 times putting the electronics in, hot glue is awesome... and the blisters are just well earned battle wounds.
"hmmmmmmm, how shall I mount this servo. HOT GLUE IT!. And that bare receiver board, what to do, what to do. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. HOT GLUE THAT BIZNATCH TO THE SIDE! I'M RICK JAMES BIOTCH! I'm liking this 9mil depron gig... liking it alot. I know Wayne will be too. There will be BAF Yak's-o-plenty at the Vegas show.

Welcome to the world of hot glue Max...
Im on my third gun now and 5000 sticks, ha ha ha.Well guys, Yestarday I finally got to maiden mine and all I can say is HOLY SH**. This thing does fly like a 40%er. It pulled out all the menuevers I through at it and did them with such grace. I had an audience of a few locals and all I heard was wow this amd wow that. I am loven this thing and may pick up a spare for brag'n rights. Thanks again for the great design. Max you are going to love this thing. I didnt have to add one click of trim !!!!!!! ![]() John C. |

Just checking in to see how the BAF YAKS are coming along.
Max- I can't believe that your servo package got to you so quick. I sent it Tuesday evening around 9:30 from our downtown Post Office and you received it Wednesday. Your YAK is looking great! Looks like your ready to start charging those batteries. John- Glad your enjoying your new foamie. Can you post what electronics your using. If you went with the Scorpion 3020-12, I found that a 13x4 APC-e gives you some more low end power and the larger diameter blows more air over the control surfaces, making it more responsive in slow flight. Mike, I ended up going with a Hextronic 35-42c 1000kv with the 12 x 6e prop and an H-Wing Pentium 40amp Speed Controller with a 2200 mah 3cell lipo and hs-81mgs all around. The motor gets a bit warm after hovering a few minutes but not a dangerous level. I have done rolling circles, inverted with ease, flat spins, slow looking blenders and of course tons of hovering all with the grace, This bird looks in slow motion and feels light on the sticks. Thanks again for coming out with a cnc foamie of this size. My favorite.

Max,
Watch the hot glue in high temperatures, I left my hot glued foamie in the car on a hot day, and on the next flight servos began coming loose. Makes for exciting flying! |

You put one of your wing servos on the wrong side.
