Default Lateral Balance

How do you check for lateral balance on a large plane?

I can easily put a line on the engine shaft to lift the front of the plane, but I can't figure out how to lift the tail in a manner that will allow the plane to easily roll if it is out of balance. (The rudder has been sealed so I can't put a line around a hinge.)

Default Re: Lateral Balance

Check the lateral balance of your airplane in flight. From horizontal, pull to an idle, let the plane slow down. Before the plane stalls push to a vertical down line. Once you have established a down line, pull up elevator and watch for the wing to drop. Repeat fifteen to twenty times. Add weight to the wing that does not drop, repeat test and adjust until plane radius's out to horizontal without dropping a wing.

Good Luck,
Kent P
