I just got a Vess 32A a week ago, and even with my MTW cans, it's CRAZY how loud it is....

Put stock mufflers on, and throw a vess on it, INSANE loud.

It would be sweet to have Bolly make a 34x8 carbon prop. Run a 3W 157 with KS 1090's and see how it goes.

My buddy has a Dalton 300 with greve pipes on it, and has a Vess 32D and it is MAD LOUD. I can't imagine with the 32A.

If you want loud don't put any oil in the gas, it'll be loud for a short period of time and it'll be very quiet after that.

You want loud? Get the lady that works up here to talk on her cell phone while standing next to you during the flight. Doesn't matter what exhaust or prop you have, doesn't get any louder than that!

I have always adopted the policy that "there is no such thing as a stupid question..." This thread however, is making me question that policy...

Maybe you could get somebody to make a header thats shaped like a large megaphone on the outlet. You could call them "loudeners"

Ok, now we're getting somewhere!! What is the best material for resonating exhaust notes? I think I can call up Eddie Whitehead at Fast Eddie's and have him weld up a set of "loudeners"!

Ryan, would you mind running down to Fast Eddie's and deal with him in person for me?

Here's my goal... I want my plane to sound like a Cessna 185 w/seaplane prop, at takeoff power. Here is an example:
