He I have a Toc on a Sukhoi from WH and that thing has a ton of power. Use a 22x8 prop and that has so much power it's stupid.

I've only got about 1.5 gallon at 32:1 break in mix through mine and so far with a 22x8 bunny prop it's idling pretty smooth at 1400 and spins up to 7200. I just got back from the field and got 4 good flights on it today! I've got pics and video that I'll try to get posted tonight or tomorrow. By my fourth flight I got more comfortable with it (keep in mind this is my first gasser and the largest plane I've ever flown so still got the nerves...) I did some 4 points, knife edge both directions and a couple of desent looking blenders. So far I'm diggin' this gas thing! I do need to add a bit of right thrust... when I pull straight up to verticle I have to add just a light touch of right rudder to keep it on line.
Boy is it gonna be difficult to take any of my glow planes to the field ever again... Anyone wanna buy some un-used glow planes... LOL |

Question... What's everybody use when plugging in your aileron extentions together when you assemble your plane at the field to keep them from unpluggin/coming loose?

Use heat shrink tubing if it's a permanent connection. If it's a connection that you have to plug and unplug all the time, then get some keepers. Wildhare should have supplied those with the ARF. They are the plastic zig-zag things in the parts bag, and could be any color. They work fine.

Hey, good job on the Edge - your plane looks great! I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and can't wait to see it.
Keep the pics and vids coming

Well I bought something else today to go along with my new gasser!
![]() I didn't think much about transporting a bigger plane when I bought my Edge... It just barely fits in my truck and if my 10 year old daughter wants to fly her kadet sr on the same day I want to fly my Edge... well... I'm basically screwed. So I've been looking around for a cheap trailer and today it just fell into my lap!I got an email from a local club president that had an airplane hauler for sale. I actually saw this trailer earlier in the year at a fly-in and thought it was just about right for what I need. It's a pop-up type camper that's been gutted and made into an airplane hauler... it's got a small fridg in it, good tires, tie down straps and other misc for securing gear etc... overall in very good shape. Bought it for $75.00! ![]() It'll due for a year or two until I can scrape up enough $$ for something nicer. ![]() I've flown the snot outta the Edge and have been just having a blast! It's like getting started all over again in this hobby... lol I've added some vinyl lettering to personalize it a bit too. My only complaint with the plane itself is... There's a small black trim strip on the right wing... whatever was used for this covering sucks! It is definately cheap stuff and just doesn't want to re-shrink worth a darn! (winter project... gonna carefully take that black off and replace with something better!) |

The jury is still out...
It did pretty much eliminate the blow by problem. At first when I started it up, the idle was way high, no big deal just adjusted the epa in the radio and brought it back down. Had to lean both needles just a fuzz. Unfortunately I don't have any good tach numbers to compare to see what the stack did to the top end. I originallly had a 22x8 bunny on this engine (before the stack) and it tached at 7200+... then I tried a 22x8 xoar (I know people say they are the same prop,,, but when compared side by side... they are not... tips are slightly different and the thickness of the blade is not the same. I have not measured with calipers but you can feel the difference with just your fingers) anyway... like a dummy... I never tached the xoar with out the stack. But... I had the xoar on when I put the stack on and didn't think much about it at the time (I JUST WANTED TO FLY! ) Bottom line is the xoar tached at 6900 with the stack and cowl in place and the plane seemed to perform well. Now it's getting pretty cold here (25 degrees here this morning )and I'll probably have to wait until spring to do some good comparison and number gathering. Sorry for the long rambling answer.... I'm gonna have a real hard time knocking the dust off of one of my glow planes when that gasser is always calling my name when I wanna fly... lol |
