Default MODE IV

I have been flying Mode II for almost 20 years, but it seems to me that Mode IV(Throttle/Aileron on left stick and Elevator/Rudder on right stick) would be more natural and easier for many rolling maneuvers.

It wouldnt require changing the Throttle Stick Ratchet to the right side (as in Mode I), and just seems really comfortable to me, as a "righty".

Has any one out there retrained themselves to change modes after flying one way for many years, and is any one flying Mode IV?

Any comments are appreciated.

By the way, I drive an automatic using 2 feet rather than one, and find its much more effective. Been doing that for 40 years or so. Not sure that its relevant (but I can also drive a car using one foot ((my van's stering column prevents driving with 2 feet)), as well as drivea stick shift and have no difficulty going back and forth between driving "modes").

I think that you mean mode 1. Mode four is like mode two with the sticks reversed. Yes, I've flown mode 2 for ten years and I'm attempting to learn mode one.

We'll, originally I thought it was Mode I, but some internet reference or other referred to Mode I as Throttle/Aileron on right stick, and Elevator/Rudder on left.

If that is in error, then I am referring to flying Mode I as opposed to Mode II, with Throttle/Aileron on left stick, and Elevator/Rudder on left.

Snap A Saurus and I both fly mode one..... Left stick = Throttle/ailerons.
With Elev and Rudder on the same stick, Rolling Harriers are like Stirring coffee...
In general, changing modes in my opinion is a big step backwards.... fly the way you learned. In the US, Mode two is prolly how 92% of everyone flies... so you can share planes if you fly this way.

Look at Mith's avatar... I'm pretty sure throttle and ailerons are on the right stick.

(OOPS!!! lol.. other left! )

See my avatar.... see the right stick is down... that is throttle...
Right stick = Throttle/Ailerons
Left Stick = Rudder/Elevator

(My dad had a horrible time teaching me to fly 'cuz I never learned which is left and which is right! lol )

Mode 3 is t/r on the right, a/e on left. mode 1 is t/a on right, r/e on left.
I fly mode 4, and I 100% guarantee you that it is t/a on left and r/e on right. How do I know? Well, I used to fly futaba, and they have programmable stick mode, and I set it to mode 4 to get what I want. Now that I fly JR, I have to send the tx in to have mode 4 programmed into it. I tell them I need stick mode 4, and they send me back a tx that is configured how I fly.

I think I would like mode4 prolly the best if I were to change. Seems to be the right stuff, in the right spot. My foam sure would last alot longer.

I am a mode 1 flyer.

Mode 1 is throttle and ailerons on the right stick and rudder and elevator on the left. Makes point rolls and slow rolls a piece of cake!

I modified an old JR Transmitter for Rudder/Elevator on the right stick. I tried flying with it for a while, but 20+ years of M2 I could not get that rudder off my left thumb. It was a lot of fun trying it though.
